Introduction
In spite of its small size, Okeover Arm Provincial Park, which sits on the eastern side of the Malaspina Peninsula, is a great place to visit to enjoy wonderful camping experiences. Located at the northern terminus of Highway 101, 19 km (12 miles) north of Powell River, and 9 km (6 miles) east of Lund, this provincial park is just a short distance from Okeover Government Wharf.
At the park, established in 1979, you can engage in various recreational activities such as flora observation, boating and canoeing, picnicking, fishing, and swimming. There's also pet walking, wildlife viewing, and nature observation. Of particular interest to campers is the search for the varied marine life in the park and the walk through the lightly-forested upland in the park.
Okeover Arm Provincial Park features 14 pet-friendly RV campsites and four tent campsites. All the campsites are available on first-come first-served basis only, and serve as the doorstep to Desolation Sound Marine Park. You’ll find water taps, pit toilets, a picnic area, firewood, a nearby boat launch, and parking area at Okeover Arm Provincial Park.
Some parts of the park are located on a traditional Sliammon Fist Nations archeological site and interpretive signs that explain the significance of these sites are available in the park.

Driving
Okeover Arm Provincial Park sits at the northern terminus of Highway 101, 19 km (12 miles) north of Powell River, and 9 km (6 miles) east of Lund. The park can be easily located and accessed by RVs, trailers, and other motorized vehicles. There are local roads within the park that make navigation to park areas easy too. There are no driving restrictions in the park.
Parking
Okeover Arm Provincial Park has a limited parking area for RVs, trailers, and cars, however, there is room at the campsites in the campground for RV campers to park their rigs. Furthermore, overnight parking is available.
Public Transportation
There are no direct public transportation services to Okeover Arm Provincial Park.

First-come first-served
Okeover Arm Campground
Okeover Arm Campground has 14 pet-friendly campsites that are available for RVs and tents, as well as 4 campsites available for tents only. All the campsites sit within mature hemlock and cedar trees that provide shade. No electric hookups are available for RVs at the 14 campsites and trailer length limit at the campground is 25 ft (8 m).
Water taps and pit toilets are available at the campground, as well as wheelchair accessible areas. There is no pay phone in the campground and the nearest store is at Lund.
All the campsites are available on first-come first-served basis only.
Seasonal activities in Okeover Arm Provincial Park
In-Season
Flora
Okeover Arm Provincial Park sits in a small upland area decorated by a beautiful forested shoreline. You’ll find diverse flora in the park, particularly heavy tree cover of western red cedar, western hemlock, Douglas fir, red alder, and broad leaf maple. These trees provide nice shades for campers to relax. There isn't a lot of understory vegetation in the park, except in open disturbed areas and by the roads. Himalayan blackberry may be seen in different parts of the park.
Boating/Canoeing
There are opportunities for RV campers to paddle, canoe and kayak at Okeover Arm Provincial Park and the park is popular with kayakers as a jumping point to access the nearby Desolation Sound Provincial Marine Park. Even though there is no dedicated boat launch within the park, one is located immediately adjacent to the park, hence paddlers and boaters are still able to launch their vessels on to Okeover Arm. It is recommended that boaters and paddlers only use the boat launch during high tides.
Picnicking
Just next to the campground in Okeover Arm Provincial Park is a picnic/day use area that features a small grassy area and beautiful views of Lancelot Inlet and Okeover Arm. The site is really nice for enjoying meals and wheelchair accessible pit toilets are available. No picnic shelters and picnic tables are available in the area, however, there are picnic benches.
Off-Season
Fishing
Although angling is not a very popular activity at Okeover Arm Provincial Park, adventurous RV campers can still enjoy fishing for cutthroat trout at the park. Some other fish species may be found in the surrounding lakes in the park. An appropriate fishing is license is required to fish at Okeover Arm Provincial Park.
Swimming
During your visit to Okeover Arm Provincial Park on RV holiday, there are opportunities to enjoy ocean swimming at the rocky beach in the park. The rocky nature of the beach is a standout feature as no sand is present. Moreover, there are no lifeguards on duty at the park, hence caution is advised when swimming. The water is cold even in the summer, but sometimes, a refr4eshing dip is exactly what you need.
Pet Walking
As you enjoy casual strolls through Okeover Arm Provincial Park and take in the view of the resplendent forest trees, beautiful landscapes, and the waterfront, you can take your pets along with you. You’ll be responsible for cleaning up after them and keeping them on leash. The backcountry areas in the park are not suitable for pets due to wildlife issues common in those areas.
