RV campers and visitors also have unlimited hunting opportunities at the park, thanks to the presence of game. Water-based recreation enthusiasts will enjoy boating, paddling, canoeing, swimming within the lake. Additional recreational opportunities are available nearby at Lake O’ The Pines and Caddo Lake State Park.
Tent and RV camping opportunities are available at this Army COE park within campgrounds equipped with facilities such as playgrounds, swimming beaches, dump stations, volleyball courts, and lots more. Campsites are equipped with full and partial hookups.
Located nine miles south of Texarkana, along US Highway 59, Texas, Wright Patman Lake is a US Army COE park that RV campers, vacationers, and guests can drive to with ease in their motorhomes and personal vehicles. Navigation within the park is also easy. Equipment rentals are available around Lake O’ The Pines and Texarkana.
There are parking spaces for vacationers and guests at and around Wright Patman Lake for RVs, trailers and cars at designated parking spots and at the campgrounds. Overnight parking facilities are also available.

Clear Spring is a pet-friendly campground that sits along the shore of the lake in a southern pine forest that overlooks the lake. The campground is open all year with facilities such as a playground, boat ramp, and swimming area. Campsites are available for reservation.
This campground offers 101 campsites for tents and RVs/trailers, all of which are equipped with electric and water hookups. Full hookups are available in 41 campsites. Group camping options are also available in the campground. Campsite amenities include restrooms, showers, grills, picnic tables, and potable water.
The maximum RV/trailer length that can be accommodated in the campground is 85 feet.
Malden Lake is a pet-friendly campground that sits along the shore of the lake within a thick pine forest that provides plenty of shade for campers. The campground is open all year and offers facilities such as a boat ramp, courtesy dock, and a dump station. Campsites are available by reservation in the campground.
This campground offers 39 campsites for tents and RVs/trailers, all of which are equipped with electric and water hookups. Campsite amenities include trash cans, lantern posts, grills, and utility tables.
The maximum RV/trailer length that can be accommodated in the campground is 55 feet.
Piney Point is a pet-friendly campground that sits along the shore of the Wright Patman Lake in a southern pine forest that overlooks the lake. The campground is open between March and November and offers facilities such as a group picnic shelter, dump station, and a volleyball court. Campsites are available by reservation in the campground.
This campground offers 65 campsites for tents and RVs/trailers, 46 of which are equipped with electric and water hookups. Campsite amenities include restrooms, showers, grills, utility and picnic tables, and trash cans.
The maximum RV/trailer length that can be accommodated in the campground is 50 feet.
Rocky Point is a pet-friendly campground that sits along the shore of the lake and is open all year, offering facilities such as a playground, volleyball court, swimming beach, amphitheater, and a boat ramp. Campsites are available by reservation in the campground.
This campground offers 124 campsites for tents and RVs/trailers, all of which are equipped with electric and water hookups. Full hookups are available in 15 campsites. A group picnic shelter is available in the campground. Campsite amenities include restrooms, showers, grills, picnic tables, and potable water.
The maximum RV/trailer length that can be accommodated in the campground is 90 feet.
There are plenty of exciting angling opportunities at Wright Patman Lake for visitors who are interested in fishing in the lake. The lake contains various fish species such as largemouth bass, blue catfish, channel catfish, crappie and sunfish. In addition, white bass is abundant in the lake and bighead carp have been confirmed in the Sulphur River just below Wright Patman Dam. Bow fishing is allowed in some parts of the park and prohibited in other parts, so be sure to read the park fishing guidelines.
Visitors and campers who love to explore trails while on vacation will find there are plenty of options and opportunities present for them at and around Wright Patman Lake. Developed trails are present at Rocky Point, Piney Point, Malden Lake, and Clear Spring campgrounds, all of which present amazing adventures for hikers and nature lovers. Trail explorers in the park are guaranteed to enjoy the diverse features of the Piney Woods ecoregion in the park.
A walk along Wright Patman Lake’s corridors will amaze all nature lovers and enthusiasts. This is because the park sits within a beautiful vegetative ecosystem that features diverse flora species characteristic of the Northeast Texas and Southwest Arkansas areas. For instance, bottomland hardwood forests are mixed with pine trees that exquisitely decorate areas within the park. What’s more, these plants serve as good places for different wildlife species to live and feed, ensuring that you’ll get to see game such as eastern gray squirrel, wood ducks, bobwhite quail, wild turkey, and sparrows.
More than 85 square miles of federal lands are open to hunting at Wright Patman Lake. What’s more, this US Army Corps of Engineers park covers about 32 square miles of water which present excellent waterfowl hunting opportunities for interested campers. All of these hunting possibilities at Wright Patman Lake make the park the ideal destination for hunting enthusiasts.
The icing on the cake is the fact that no permits are required to hunt at the park, only that all hunting rules in effect must be obeyed in the interest of safety. The huntable game includes wild turkey, white-tailed deer, feral hogs, squirrel, dove, and many more.
There are 17 boat launch ramps present at Wright Patman Lake, all of which are open to campers and visitors who want to boat, paddle, canoe or engage in other water-based recreational activities on the park’s waters. Boating opportunities available at the park range from general boating, to skiing, fishing, kneeboarding, as well as the use of personal watercraft. The use of life jackets is strongly recommended when boating at the park, for safety reasons.
Swimming is a popular activity at Wright Patman Lake. There are designated swimming areas in the park and a swimming beach available for guests who wish to take a dip in the park’s waters. One of the three swimming beaches is located at the North Shore Day Use Area, while the other two are at Clear Spring and Rocky Point. Jacket Loaner Stations are available at all the three swimming beach areas for use by swimmers so that all can be safe while having fun in the lake.
