Hiking is the main draw at Runyon Canyon Park, with locals flocking to work up a sweat on the trails. East Ridge Trail is one of the most popular routes, with plenty of switchbacks and elevation gain to get your muscles working hard. Along the way, you'll pass by two scenic lookouts — Clouds Rest and Inspiration Point. Take a moment to catch your breath on the wooden bench and snap a photo of the LA skyline. Runyon Canyon Fire Road skirts around the other side of the valley and takes you to the highest point in the park. It's usually less busy than the East Ridge Trail, making it a favorite with locals. It's also one of the best trails for viewing the Hollywood Sign. Western High Way Trail, also known as the "Spine Trail", is the steepest and most challenging hike in the park. Runyon Canyon is a dog-friendly park, offering both on- and off-leash areas. This makes it popular with RV campers looking to exercise their pets. Make sure you pack plenty of water for both you and your pup as the canyon can get hot. Parking can be found at the southern entrance to the park, at the north end of Fuller Avenue. Alternatively, you can also park at the nearby private lot and walk 15 minutes. It's best to visit in the morning to beat the crowds and secure a parking spot.
