State park RV campgrounds tend to fill up quickly during busy seasons, so make your reservation as early as possible. Golden Gate Canyon State Park offers two campgrounds. Aspen Meadows is a tent-only campsite, but Reverend’s Ridge Campground has 97 campsites that welcome RV campers. Electric hookups are available, but no water is available for RVs. Campground amenities include flush toilets, shower and laundry facilities, and a dump station located near the campground entrance. Cell phone service is non-existent in the park, so plan to rough it in nature. Base Camp at Golden Gate Canyon allows for camping with an RV and has water and electric hookups. Each campsite has a picnic table and grill. The campground doesn't have shower facilities, but vault toilets are accessible from each campsite. There's a small camp store located at the campgrounds for basic necessities and a few treats, such as s’mores ingredients. Dakota Ridge RV Park is open year-round and has 141 full-service RV campsites. Wi-Fi is available at all campsites; daily trash pick-up service is also available. There are modern restroom facilities with hot showers. A clubhouse is available for guests to gather and get to know each other. Located just minutes from the park, Dakota Ridge is a convenient choice for campers who prefer their creature comforts but want to camp in an RV near Golden Gate Canyon State Park.

When camping at Golden Gate Canyon State Park, take a day and make the hour and a half drive over Rocky Mountain National Park. While at this world-famous national park, drive the Trail Ridge Road for a panoramic view of the entire park. There are over 300 miles of hiking trails to explore and an abundance of wildlife, such as bison, elk, deer, and even black bear. Take a 30-minute drive south to Idaho Springs and explore where Colorado’s gold rush began. Take a guided tour through the well-preserved town, or simply wander through the streets and envision the bustling town during the height of the gold rush. Visit the Underhill Museum and the Pioneer Cemetery for a glimpse into the past. The Central City Opera House is only 20 minutes southwest of Golden Gate Canyon State Park and is a must-see. The opera company was founded in 1932 and is one of the oldest opera companies in the United States. The opera company operates the opera house, which was built in 1878.
