About Robert Stevens

Our vans reflect what we love most in life: family, custom design + build, and adventure. We gave the professional path our best shot - Rob in industrial design, Scott in architecture - but felt stuck behind the computer; we wanted to get out, we wanted to work with our hands. When Scott’s daughter Lila came along, he started making wooden toys, and Uncle Bob helped. Toys became furniture, then custom kitchen renovations, and before we knew it, woodworking was our passion. So in 2012, we founded Community Woodshop, an LA-based creative hub where we dream up projects, teach classes, and have helped thousands of people bring their woodworking projects to life.​ When the pandemic hit, like the rest of the world, we were forced to shut down, and we worried that we wouldn’t make it. But we also saw the opportunity to make our biggest dream project a reality: building adventure vans.​ Catalyst Vans focus on the details: solid wood custom cabinets, serene yet. functional lighting, high-grade textiles and flooring, and the most reputable, hi-tech components. We combine master craftsmanship with the highest quality materials and the beating heart of the great outdoors to produce plush yet rugged custom vehicles that will catalyze your life into adventure.
