Sleepy Holler RV Park is conveniently located a short drive from some of Alabama's most popular recreation areas. Head over to Bankhead National Forest, one of Alabama's largest national forests with more than 180,000 acres to explore. The Corinth Recreation Area within the forest is a popular spot, with a designated swimming beach, boat ramps, and an RV campground with full hookups. Eager to bag some big game? Pack your hunting gear in your RV rental and target wild boar or quail. If you'd rather watch the birds than hunt them, keep your binoculars handy for a chance to spot kingfishers, osprey, and several species of warbler. If you're looking for a smaller area, escape into the wilderness at Oak Mountain State Park in Pelham. Covering just under 1,000 acres, it's the perfect place to spend an afternoon. The extensive multi-use trail network, with 25 miles of hiking paths and 50 miles of mountain biking routes, welcomes adventurers of all skill levels. Enjoy a serene stroll along the two-mile Green Trail, or test your mettle on the eight-mile Yellow Trail. Several paths lead to Peavine Falls, a 65-foot cascade that's well worth the trek. Other activities include fishing, swimming, golfing, wildlife watching, and camping. Kick it up a notch at Talladega National Forest in Brent. This vast swath accounts for over half of Alabama's national forest footprint at over 300,000 acres. For some truly spectacular panoramas of the park, ascend over 2,400 feet to the summit of Cheaha Mountain. If you're passing through the area in a smaller campervan rental, take the 30-mile scenic route to the peak and soak up the beautiful views along the way. Prefer to explore on foot? The Pinhoti National Trail system boasts more than 100 miles of woodland trails winding through the national forest. Anglers are in for a treat, too, with the chance to reel in catfish, crappie, bream, and more from the forest's numerous lakes.
