Getting Outdoors

Angling enthusiasts should not miss the chance to camp in an RV near Horseshoe Lake. Despite having an average depth of just five feet, the largemouth bass fishing here is said to be some of the best in the state. This is due to the many cypress trees, submerged timber and lily pads in the lake that creates the perfect environment for a range of fish species to thrive. Fly fishing is possible from the shallow waters; however, heading out into the middle of the lake has proved to be more lucrative for fishermen and women. When you need a bit of practice before gunning for the trophy-sized largemouth mouth, Horseshoe Lake is also home to bluegill and various other panfish, which can be caught from one of the fishing piers.

Camping at Horseshoe Lake

Motorhome camping at Horseshoe Lake is unfortunately quite limited, as there are no campsites on the banks of the lake. There are several campgrounds located a half an hour drive downstream. Beech Point Campground is one of the closest places to park up your RV rental and boasts all of the modern amenities one might need for a comfortable stay. Along with full hookups at all of the twenty campsites, visitors can enjoy a swimming beach, modern washroom facilities, and easy access to some of the region’s most scenic walking trails. When you are traveling in a large rig, don’t forget to call ahead of your visit as pull-thru sites here are few.

Our trip in Burge’s motorhome was the most enjoyable family trip we’ve ever had. If you’re on the fence, stop overthinking it and rent the motorhome. Burge was a great communicator before and during our trip. We found the motorhome to be in great shape and well maintained. We have three small children and were able to install all 3 of their car seats at the dinette (three seatbelts at the dinette, the front facing two have top-tether for front facing car seats, we removed the cushions and stored them on the bed before installing the seats). The 12V refrigerator/freezer works while you’re driving down the road, so you can leave the ice chest at home and bring your groceries with you. The water pump also allows the sinks and toilet to function while underway. We didn’t use the generator at all, but Burge showed us how it worked and explained that it runs off the same fuel tank as the motorhome, so it’s super easy if you need it. The motorhome carries plenty of freshwater and the grey/black tanks had plenty of capacity to get us through the first and second day until we got to our campsite. This was our first trip in a motorhome, so we learned a lot. It was a total game changer. We were able to make great travel time by skipping all the extra stops. A full tank of gas is right at a full day of driving, so it worked out really well. My wife also drove the motorhome a good bit and wasn’t intimidated by it. It has cruise control and drives like a large van. Setup at the campsites was a breeze. Burge includes everything you’ll need to connect power, water, & sewer. There was plenty of storage space on the motorhome. We were able to keep the motorhome clean and swept throughout our trip thanks to the easy clean flooring. Overall, our trip was fantastic and we hope Burge will allow us to rent from him again and create more family memories.

We liked how there was a door to the bedroom. It rained like crazy much of the trip, and there were no leaks. It was great to have a vacuum and other cleaning items. Ryan provided exceptional customer service. We will rent from him again!
