Discover Lake Bailey RV rentals for memorable road trips

At the top of Petit Jean Mountain, which is adjacent to the Arkansas River, is Lake Bailey. This lake, which covers 170 acres when at normal levels, and is a popular destination for anglers, hikers, and tourists alike. Lake Bailey was constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps as part of a greater project, the same project that helped build the Petit Jean State Park in the 1930s. The lake was named for then Arkansas governor, Carl Bailey.

Getting Outdoors

There is something special about fishing on the top of a mountain, and Lake Bailey has many different fish species to attract anglers to its elevated waters. Because the lake is publicly owned, anglers must have an up-to-date fishing license, so be sure to update your Arkansas fishing license en route to the lake so that your fishing trip doesn’t run into any snags. The lake is typically stocked annually, and common species caught here include crappie, bass, and catfish.

Camping at Lake Bailey

Lake Bailey is located inside of Petit Jean State Park, and the state park RV campgrounds here are an extremely convenient place to stay while exploring Lake Bailey. There are many onsite cabins that are designed by the Civilian Conservation Corps in a rustic style to reflect the mountain surroundings, and these cabins are accompanied by 35 RV compatible campsites and 90 rustic campsites. All of the campsites at this campground are within walking distance of Lake Bailey.

Exploring the Area

An easy way to explore this section of Arkansas is to rent an RV near Lake Bailey, using the lake and nearby campground as a temporary home-base to explore the nearby towns. Adona, a town to the south, is one of the closest towns but doesn’t have much to offer for guests. It may be better to the northeast to Morrilton or the northwest to Russellville when desiring a day in town.

Brandon and Dana were great!!! We requested a last minute rental and they really came through for us. The camper was clean, well supplied, and super cozy. We had a 13 hour rain day on our trip, but loved every cozy minute we got to spend inside relaxing. They were VERY quick to respond to every message and question, and they made our rental a great experience!
