The purpose of the trip was to transport a very ill relative from NY to Florida. There were a few minor issues that might be expected taking an older rig on such a long trip. Michael was extremely helpful and supportive and a pleasure to do business with. It certainly was not a vacation, but we achieved our goal and certainly would recommend Michael and Outdoorsy.

While the owner was responsive to questions before and during the rental, there was a misrepresentation of the “vintage” RV.
Upon picking up the RV, we noticed the ladder was partially detached from the back with screws hanging out and damage to the rear bumper. Later that day, we found a hole where the ladder detached went through to the inside of the RV. We had access to foam and plugged the hole so that mosquitos and water would not enter.

Michael’s answer

This was Rose's first RV experience and her expectations were high for a 30 year old vintage motor home, i.e. comfortable seat belts for a 20 minute drive. It was rented primarily for sleeping at a lake 20 minutes away. Vintage doesn't imply mint condition. Yet it is in very good condition for its age. The ladder and bumper damage are very recent. A contract was signed accepting the damage. A working ladder and straight bumper are not critical to the purpose of the rental. An unauthorized spray foam/caulk repair was made creating damage to the siding and tail lamp lens requiring time and hundreds of dollars to undo/correct. Water and bugs were not pouring the 1" as witnessed by me and others. Some of Rose's issues are subjective, don't make sense, and/or point to her nature. For example: the heat. It works. But why do you need heat on a 20 minute trip in July? Was it needed or checked to include in a review? The hot water was in fact serviced but failed during her rental. Less than 12 hours into her 3 day rental, I was told it wasn't working but then started working again. It wasn't until her return that I was informed otherwise. I could've attempted a repair being 20 minutes away or sent a mobile repair service. Ultimately, it was a minor repair. Regarding the return: I had the paperwork printed at departure, Rose was 3 hours late, just showed at her convenience and was too rushed to complete the return documents. Late fees, cleaning fees, damage repair, etc., total hundreds of dollars. I'm allowed to be upset with an unauthorized repair. Rose became argumentative as being justified in making the repair. To top it off, Rose didn't even top off the gas tank. The RV is not in dire need of maintenance and updating per Rose's standards and expectations. I've had many happy renters over the last 15 years. Nearly all have had a positive vintage motor home experience. It's unfortunate Rose couldn't.
