2016 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter
Named for his Idaho-an roots and brown potato-like shape, Spud began his life in Southwest Idaho before gradually making his journey to Northern Virginia. Spud has once again returned to his homeland as of March 2024. Spud is a 2016 Mercedes Sprinter van on a 170” chassis. Spud began as a cargo van before being professionally converted to the off-grid capable home you see today.Whether your intention is for a weekend at the beach or an extended period of off-grid living in the mountains, Spud is sure to take you there. Spud boasts many amenities to make you feel right at home, such as:-2 x 200-watt roof-mounted solar panels and 3 x 100 aH batteries to ensure you are always connected.
-Shore power option to maximize the vehicle’s electric longevity while in civilization.
-40 gallons of both fresh and grey water. Biggest water tanks on a Sprinter!
-Queen-size bed with 6” memory foam (not some cheap RV mattress that’ll leave you in pain).
-24 gallon fuel tank with a ~400-mile range, meaning fewer stops at the pump!
-Refrigerator that can be run from propane, shore power, or battery.
-Swing table that allows for convenient dining for two.
-Bench seat with ample underside storage.
-Indoor & outdoor shower with hot & cold water!
-On-demand water heater to ensure you never have cold water.
-Compost toilet
-Generous storage throughout which means you will be able to bring just about everything except the kitchen sink (Don’t worry, a kitchen sink is included).
-2 x 20lb propane tanks.
-Furnace with an adjustable thermostat.
-MaxxAir fan, controllable via remote.
-Bluetooth-enabled electric monitoring is available so that you can easily monitor the van’s energy consumption.

• Please do not allow pets on the bed. An additional cleaning fee will be assessed if it is found that animals inhabited the bed. Animal fur is incredibly difficult to remove from the mattress.
• Do not smoke ANYTHING in or close to the van. If the van is returned smelling of noxious odors, a significant fee will be assessed to fumigate the van.
• The van runs on diesel fuel ONLY.
• Do not allow additional passengers to ride in the van. Any person riding in the van that is not seat belted will result in a breach of contract and the termination of the rental agreement.
• If you elect to rent the gas-powered generator, please ensure that it is only filled with unleaded/regular gas.
• If you use the compost toilet, you will be responsible for disposing of your waste prior to the van’s return.
• Please contact us prior to your trip to coordinate how much fresh water you wish to have the van filled with. Excessive water equals more weight, which equals worse fuel economy.
