Fishing is best during spring and early summer when the water levels are high, although Pine Flat Lake is known for its record-breaking spotted bass which can be found all year round. Pine Flat Lake is also an attractive place to enjoy the pleasures of boating. The marina located on the lakes edge rents out 8, 10 and 12 person pontoons to Pine Flat Lake campers. Exploring the nearly six thousand acre lake by boat is the perfect way to spend a summer day, the many coves and river outlets make the boating experience an adventure as well as a relaxing pastime. Island Park campground is based on the north-east shore of the lake, just off the Trimmer Springs road. The campground comprises of 25 sites that have electrical hookups, and five of which have water hookups. All sights are provided with flush toilets and washing facilities. Island Park is the ideal site for access to the boat ramps and water-based activities.

The second campground located on the banks of Pine Flat Lake is on the northernmost shore. Trimmer campground is a small, single-looped facility with ten individual campsites overlooking the lake. Each site features a picnic table, campfire ring, and a grill. Although no hookups are available at this site, its idyllic location and quaintness make it a popular choice for those with a Rental RV.

Exploring The Area

With Pine Flat Lake only a short drive from the city of Fresno, opportunities for day trips are endless, why not take a family orientated visit to Fresno Chaffee Zoo. Located in Roeding Park, this zoo covers over 39 acres and is home to over 190 species of animals. The African adventure area of the zoo contains elephants, cheetahs, giraffes, and the much endangered southern white rhinoceros. This is the ideal family day trip, especially for families with children. The zoo includes ‘tot time’ sessions that incorporate small children into the world of nature and wildlife.
