Being set directly in Eldorado National Forest means that when you camp here, you’ll be surrounded by towering trees and dense undergrowth. The lands surrounding the reservoir are ripe with growth, and there are many trails that cut through these lands to give visitors a chance to explore. These trails are all clearly marked, and the majority of them are intended for hiking on foot, though biking trails do exist and are clearly marked too.
Camping at Union Valley Reservoir
After you rent a camper near Union Valley Reservoir, you’ll have many different options when it comes to choosing where you want to camp. Surrounding the reservoir are many different campgrounds, and although they are all on the smaller side, the fact that there are so many definitely increases your chances of securing a site. Jones Fork Campground is on the eastern shore and has ten sites for RVs, and camping here is rustic with vault toilets and no piped water.
Exploring the Area
Although it isn’t the closest city to the reservoir, Carson City is definitely one of the largest within easy driving distances that has a lot to offer for visitors who are RV camping at Union Valley Reservoir. Carson City is home to many museums, restaurants, and fun attractions to keep you busy during your visit. The Children’s Museum of Northern Nevada is a fantastic choice for families traveling with young kids, especially when you want them to burn a lot of excess energy. This museum is packed full of interactive exhibits that will keep your child busy all day.

We were amazed at how well organized this vehicle is! They designed it with a lot of attention to detail, and it was really easy to live in it. It drives well so we had no problem maneuvering through camping areas and the water tank and batteries made it a breeze to find overnight spots pretty much anywhere.
James obviously takes great care of the vehicle, we had no problems whatsoever. I recommend watching his video--it really helps you take full advantage of all the features. Also, the flexibility on the pickup/dropoff times really made it easy to start and end the trip.
