The Great Outdoors

Just a few miles north of town is Ridgway State Park. If you rent an RV in Ridgway during the winter season then this is an excellent place to begin your vacation. It offers over three miles of cross-country skiing as well as year-round bird watching, and a swimming beach. Meanwhile, from December to March, the Ouray Ice Park is one of the best locations to practice your ice climbing skills. The park hosts tougher climbs like Bird Brain Boulevard and Ames Ice Hose or scaling Bridal Veil Falls. The San Juan Mountains offer world-class climbing and each winter the county hosts the Ouray Ice Festival.

If you’re traveling with the whole family then Ouray KOA may be a good choice to stay with the camper rental near Ridgway. The campground is open from May to October and located alongside the Uncompahgre River and is at an elevation of 7,250 feet. Guests can enjoy 50-amp hookups and Wi-Fi, as well as the option of dining at the on-site café or bar or joining organized camp activities.
