Getting Outdoors

Boating is the main draw for those camping at Shadow Mountain Lake. While the lake itself encompasses over 1,350 acres of water, the small channels connecting it to neighboring lakes means boaters have just over 9,000 acres of surface water to explore. If you’ve bought your own boat with you on your Shadow Lake Mountain camping trip, head over to the Green Ridge Campground, where two boat launch ramps make accessing the water a piece of cake. Trail Ridge Marina, situated on the lake’s western shores, can also help you out with boat rentals and licenses if you haven’t already picked one up. Whether you’re hoping to get your jet ski, wakeboard, sailboat or canoe out onto the waters, you’re guaranteed to have a great day out on Shadow Mountain Lake’s vast waters.

Camping at Shadow Mountain Lake

When you’re searching for a lakeside spot to park up your RV rental, look no further than Green Ridge Campground. Situated on the southern banks of Shadow Mountain Lake, this picturesque campground offers visitors the choice of 80 private pitches. Although none of the sites are equipped with hookups, guests are welcome to use the well-kept restrooms, potable water taps, and bear lockers provided. This is a primitive campsite; however, it is within walking distance of the lake’s boat ramps and provides stunning views of the Rockies.

Exploring the Area

Nestled into the Rocky Mountains, many of the activities near Shadow Mountain center around the great outdoors. The town of Granby is, however, home to the Moffat Road Railroad Museum. This small but informative museum tells the story of David Moffat, a man who started building the Denver Northwestern and Pacific Railroad in 1904. As well as learning about the triumphs of this humble man, visitors can learn hall about how the Moffat Railroad helped the communities in Grand County to thrive and even check out a 1905 Passenger Car that once traveled on this historic railroad.

We had a FANTASTIC trip to Moab, UT where we camped along the Colorado River. We explored Arches National Park and Canyonlands and enjoyed some amazing hikes! The camper was super comfortable, stocked with everything you could need and easy to tow. Hunter was always very responsive to any questions we had and easy to talk to. A nice guy who really wanted us to enjoy our trip-thank you. A trip full of great times and memories…

We loved our trip with Luna! We felt well outfitted, prepared and supported with any questions! We had a blast biking, visiting hot springs and sledding the sand dunes. The perfect vehicle for a Colorado adventure!
