Getting Outdoors

A number of 12,000 and 13,000-foot mountain peaks provide a majestic backdrop for a day of boating on sparkling Vallecito Lake. The public boat ramp is typically open in May and closes in October, so when you’re looking forward to a boating experience, you might consider taking a motorhome camping trip here during that season to enjoy everything from paddleboarding to powerboating.

Camping at Vallecito Lake

Whether you prefer pitching a tent or cozying up in a rental RV, an abundance of facilities makes camping at Vallecito Lake easy and convenient. There are three full-service RV and Cabin Resorts available at the lake, as well as seven Forest Service campgrounds that are seasonally-maintained.

Exploring the Area

During your RV rental vacation at Vallecito Lake make sure to check out the Tour of Carvings, which was created by a local artist and commemorates the Missionary Ridge Fire of 2002, when many ancient Ponderosa Pine trees (some over 200 years old and up to 175 feet tall) were lost. The memorial carvings are 18-feet tall, weigh around 2,600 pounds, and are mounted on concrete piers found all around the lake area.

A great little van with more comforts than I expected. Perfect for me and my dog for 3 days. Amanda was terrific -- showed me everything inside and out. Van was well maintained, clean, and drove well.
