Let's start with a few questions to narrow down your options.
The Muscogee Native Americans (also known as the Creek) were the first inhabitants of the area that would later become Bowdon, GA. The land was ceded to the state of Georgia in 1827 in a treaty. In 1853, the first known American settlers selected the site of their town and purchased land parcels in an auction. The most expensive lot sold for $10.50, which is roughly $300 in today’s dollars. The town was named after Congressman Frank Welch Bowdon, who helped the residents secure a post office.
