Buchanan is a small city in Haralson County, Georgia, located between Atlanta and Birmingham. The settlement was first established in 1856 and was named after President James Buchanan, who had recently been elected, although in the local accent the town name is pronounced Buck-han-uhn.

The Great Outdoors
just a short drive west from Buchanan in your RV rental is the Talladega National Forest. Covering an area of over 390,000 acres, this vast forest of eastern Alabama is at the southern tip of the Appalachian Mountains. A wide variety of wildlife can be found in the forest, including coyote, black bear, and white-tailed deer, along with many species of birds. Some of the wildlife, such as gopher tortoise and flattened-musk turtle are endangered, so the habitat is protected to encourage those species. The forest offers a range of recreational activities, including hiking and cycling, plus there’s fishing and canoeing on the numerous lakes within the forest.
RV Parks
Less than a five miles drive in your Buchanan motorhome rental is the Golden River RV Park. Located in a secluded wooded area on a ridge above the Tallapoosa River, this small, intimate campground could be perfect for small families. Each campsite has full hookups, including water, electricity, and sewerage, plus picnic tables and fire rings. On-site is a large washroom which also includes laundry facilities. This is a basic site without large facilities, but perfect for anyone seeking peace and quiet.
Exploring the City
You will find all the basic requirements in Buchanan, such as a gas station and stores, plus a small range of dining options. For greater choice, the larger town of Bremen has a Walmart that may also allow you to park your RV overnight. Just check with the store manager in advance. Just to the west of town is Lake Olympia, which offers fishing for bass and crappie, plus a boat ramp for canoes, kayaks and small sailing dinghies.

Gilbert is amazing and the RV was fantastic! This was our first time traveling in a motorhome and picked Gilbert's listing solely because it was the closest to our how. What a lucky break that was.
