The town of Franklin, Georgia is the county seat of Heard County, taking its name from Benjamin Franklin. The beautiful Chattahoochee River flows through the heart of town adding to the general charm of the area. There are numerous parks and natural areas nearby, which makes for great fishing or nature watching, while in town there are many shops, eateries and historical buildings to enjoy.

The station is now considered historical, having been built in 1938, and still features a vintage, hand-painted Coca-cola advertisement. Another historical point of interest in town is the Old Heard County Jail, built in 1912, and it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. In 1987 it was restored and now serves as a museum and historical center.
