Here you can see the cornfields, gardens, small orchards, livestock, and outbuildings that would be found on a farm of the period. Abraham Lincoln never lived here, but he often visited and supported the household financially. After visiting this exhibition, visitors learn and understand life in 19th-century Illinois.

Douglas-Hart Nature Center is a great escape from the city noise, on the west side of the city. This beautiful park consists of 65 acres of native habitat, including prairie, woodland, and wetland. This park has two gardens, the Friendship Garden and the Whiteside Garden. Here you can take a hike, feed fish in the pond, spend time in a playroom with your kids, or engage in one of many events and activities organized through the year.
