RecommendationsI hope you enjoy this magical island as much as I do! I just moved here from Oahu so I'm still new but here are my top recommendations: Have fun, relax and live like a local :)Kihei:
Rent a surfboard and even a surf lesson at Aloha Boards
The Kihei Marketplace for great restaurants and local crafters
Kihei Caffe for live music in the evening and great seafood
Kalama Park: roller hockey rink, Skate Park, paved coastal walking path
Maui Brewing- local beer/spirits and food
Fred's Mexican (lower level)
Moose McGillycuddy's Irish Pub- Happy hour 4pm-7pm daily
Isana- Sushi
Snorkeling: Look on the Boss Frogs website for the best places
Lahaina:
Front street- park and walk. Tons of fun shops, great food, art galleries ect.
Betty Beach Cafe for breakfast or brunch
Expedition Ferry to Lanai for the day. Great snorkeling! or visit the plantation style Lanai City. Reservations needed. Nice day trip
Black Rock- turtles
Napili/Kapalua
Whalers Village for shopping or book a tour. Whale watching from Nov-April is THE BEST!
Snorkeling along the coast (slaughter house beach and Honolua Bay) and the drive is beautiful
Kula / up country:
Maui Winery - reservations online recommended
Ocean Vodka Farm & Distillery: great tour and restaurant (sunset is beautiful)
Hana:
It's important to research the places to stop and see on the road to Hana. They aren';t marked with signs, you need to know what mile marker they are at. There is a lot of info online, just pick what interests you :) Leave early and I suggest you leave Hana 2 hours before sunset to avoid driving in the dark (if you're not staying the night in Hana)
Farmers Market
Honokalani Beach Park (Black Sands Beach)- reservations needed ahead of time
The Hana Lava Tube
That's a start! Please let me know about your favorite spots and I'll add them to the list! Mahalo

Have a question?Get answers directly from the host

Q.What flexibility is available for picking up and dropping off the RV?
A.
I will do my best to accommodate an early pick up from the airport. I can not guarantee the van will be ready, this depends if someone rented it the night before. I have a large back yard you can wait in or I can drop you off at a coffee shop down the street while you wait for the van to be ready for you. Drop off must be before 11am so I can clean it on time for the next guest. Mahalo

Q.Are there any special tricks and tips that would help with operating the RV easily?
A.
The back door is is a bit tricky. You need to lean on the left door to open the right. Then there is a lever to open the left door. I will demonstrate this when you pick up the van.

Q.How do the electric, water and sewage hook up work while setting up at the campground?
A.
There is solar power in the van. Please only plug in a max of two devices at a time and always leave the fridge plugged in. Please stay in the sun during the day to charge the solar so it lasts through the night. The van comes with 5 gallons of clean water and a pump sink. You can refill the clean water and empty the dirty water container as needed during your trip.
