Aloha from Lisa. I love my Westy named "Fe" (means Faith in Spanish) and I want YOU to experience what we experience. Sleeping to the sound of waves gently lapping the sand and catching the dawn patrol glassy waves as the sky turns purple. It’s that moment when chills race up your spine and you exhale every ounce of stress as the waves carry you away. This vehicle is a 4 speed Manual transmission. If you do not know how to drive a "stick" please look for a VW that's an automatic. I also don't rent to anyone under 25 (sorry guys just had some bad experience with you young'ins) and you must pass the driver background and get insurance. (Learned about all of this the hard way ;-)I am available to chat anytime to answer all of your questions about our campers, general questions about Maui, I even have a website with all of the info you need about camping on Maui...just ask me for the site address and I will give it you (no obligation or cost) (Please be sure to read the "Rules of the Van" at the bottom) By the way, pick up for the van is at 6 Kai Ala Dr. next to the Westin at Airport Beach Park. Most people just shuttle or Uber to the location. We do offer Airport drop off for $50I know that "hands down" camping and traveling on Maui is Best done in a Volkswagon versus all of the other camper van/SUV options. These vehicles are a marvel of German Engineering and *nothing* compares to their comfort, design, reliability (assuming they are maintained well...like ours are) Just the View alone is worth it. (The VW has these picture windows all around the vehicle)And all that is super cool. But let's face it, to Really have a good time, you need a camper that's been truly outfitted with everything you Need so you can keep that stoke and positive vibes flowing. (without getting frustrated by what's missing from your camper) You really don't know what you need, until it's too late. That's why you should only rent a camper from someone who does this and has uber outfitted the van! This camper van has Everything you need for the most epic adventures on the island of Maui.Keep Powered Up!This Van is equipped with two 12V deep cycle batteries that charge off the alternator while you are driving (and we have solar panels for long camping stays) This provides AC power inside to keep all your high tech gadgets running and charged! Cell phones, laptops, vacuum cleaner, blender whatever you need all in the comfort of your van. We also have a flat screen wall mounted HD TV with a built in DVD player and bright interior rope lighting!Toy Storage and Awning! Our van is equipped and includes a Roof Rack System and tie downs for surfboards and paddles boards. We have installed am awning so while you are parked you have additional outdoor living area with sun shade!Sleeping Comfort!
(whatever you do, make Sure your van rental has the following!!!)
Full Surround Curtains for sleeping privacy AND custom mosquito netting for back door so you can enjoy your evenings along with staying cool with the ocean breezes without the bugs!!By the way our sleeping bags are #1) Soft cloth, not that sweaty nylon #2) Square and roomy, NOT a narrow Mummy Bag #3) The are oversized/long in case you are Tall like Eric and #4) They zip Together in case you are feeling cozy and romantic ;-) It's ALL in the details....Everything you Need!Be sure to select our "ADD ON's" such as snorkel gear, cook set, surf boards, stand up paddle boards, boogie boards, clean bedding, and beach chairs. We have them to rent. Sure, other listings or companies might say that stuff is included but let’s face it “you get what you pay for” and it’s usually trashy.By the way, Fe has a standard on-board "Westy" Fridge but they are very hard to keep the pilot light lit.
if you are up to the task of "baby sitting" the pilot light (just takes patience and a certain technique for lighting) Then have at it. Otherwise, I DO NOT advertise this camper with a fridge. I do supply an Xtreme Igloo Cooler that does very well in keeping your food cold, assuming you keep the ice supplied of course.
The Rules of The Van 1) Not allowed to drive up Haleakala 2) No smoking 3) No pets 4) No towing 5) Use only highest octane fuel - 92 6) Van must be returned full of fuel. 7) You must have full coverage on at least 1 vehicle you personally own. 8) No Driving the "backside" from Hana You will know you have gone too far when the pavement ends and it becomes a 4 wheel dirt road 9) You must take a shuttle to the VAN in Kaanapali (just north of Lahaina in West Maui.) The cost is only $25 per person (plus tax) I DO offer Airport Drop OFF for $50 but we longer offer Airport Pick UP since we have found the shuttle service is much faster (and the same price) than me driving to the airport to pick you up (due to West Maui traffic going TO Kahului) 8) Check in 3pm and Check Out is 11am. These are our standard times, exceptions can be made IF the schedule allows and we have adequate time for cleaning and maintenance.Still not sure about camping for your Hawaii vacation? Well, let me tell you. This is all about beating the crowds. Going left when everyone else goes right. This is not the kind of stuff you get staying at some overpriced resort with the masses. Welcome to the Real Maui. You will see and feel what usually only the locals get to experience. True Intimacy with the Pacific Ocean and all that Maui has to offer. But you Need the quintessential surf van to make it happen. The Westy! This one is nothing like most other VW Campers you see online. Unlike most Maui VW campers (owned by big companies) that are rented to the masses and look nothing in person like they do in the photos. This van is special. Why? Well it is our baby. Named “FE” after the Spanish word for Faith. She’s a 1987 VW Westfalia Vanagaon designed to bring you straight to the Aloha Shaka vibes and of course the Surf. It’s also equipped with an awning for extra shade, two 12V deep cycle batteries that run a power strip for all your electronics. (Additional solar panels available to rent if you plan to camp for extended periods)We also have a wall mounted TV and Built in DVD player so you can watch movies as the waves crash outside your van
door.
