Camping at Big Branch Marsh National Wildlife Refuge
There aren't any camping facilities or RV campgrounds within the refuge, but there are numerous properties a short distance away, many of them across the state line in Mississippi. One of the RV parks, Sunrise RV Park & Campground, has laundry facilities and rents sites either short term or long term (seasonally); it is close to other attractions such as the Infinity Space Center Museum.
Exploring the Area
When you're ready to check out some city sights during your Lacombe motorhome rental vacation, there are a few spots to consider. Covington is a small, friendly town with a reasonable amount of attractions to visit, such as an alligator ranch and hatchery. The tours here are very informative and hands-on; you can hold and pet the smaller baby alligators. There are several museums you can visit, outlets for shopping for antiques and souvenirs, and a brewhouse that sells its own product on tap or in six-packs. If you decide to visit here for some relaxation, they have sporting events or music videos on an overhead TV. Covington has a good selection of restaurants to choose from with a variety of cuisines, including Mexican, Creole, and Asian, in addition to some American-style menus. Prices are reasonable, and many of the restaurants are individually owned and operated.
