RV rental Poverty Point Reservoir State Park, LA: Motorhome rentals, camper van rentals and more

The main draw of Poverty Point Reservoir State Park, other than its closeness to the world heritage site, is its reservoir. This man-made reservoir brings in eager anglers regularly, as offers excellent fishing all year round. The reservoir is home to a wide range of fish species, all of which are stocked annually, keeping the populations high. Poverty Point Reservoir State Park campers can cast their hooks out and try to catch largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, black bass, crappie, bluegill, and channel catfish. The park is also home to a fish cleaning station making the whole process a lot easier for fishermen and women. Alongside the great fishing to be had on Poverty Point Reservoir is the park’s watersports. Boating on the water takes many forms, whether this is fishing boats, pontoon boats, kayaking or canoeing, Poverty Point Reservoir State Park is the place to do them all. The park itself has several boat launching ramps, making access to the water with a boat a breeze. Those motorhome camping without their own boats can head to the park’s marina. The marina rents out flat-bottom boats, and kayaks for competitive rates, these rentals come with life jackets and paddles as part of the price. One of Poverty Point Reservoir State Park’s most shining features is its location within the ‘Mississippi Flyway.’ This migratory path crosses the park, making it one of the best places to spot birds of all kinds. Keen bird and wildlife watchers should keep a lookout for birds such as cormorants, ducks, pelicans, geese, and even the bald eagle. This is a must-visit for any serious birder and a pleasant sight for even the most casual wildlife watcher.
