There are some premium sites that are situated next to the water, and all of the sites can be rented by the day, week, month, or seasonally. Wi-Fi is available so you can stay in touch with family and friends, and the on-site swimming pool is there waiting for you at the end of a long, hot day. There are 11 lakes located within the park, and all of them are suitable for fishing. You'll also find numerous beaches where you can swim and picnic areas where you can enjoy your lunch or an afternoon snack. Need to get out and stretch your legs? The park has miles upon miles of interpretive nature trails and trails allotted to hikers. Waterloo State Recreation Area is a mere 50-minute drive, but if you choose to stay overnight, there are modern campgrounds, some with 50 amp electricity, rustic sites, and cabins or yurts that you can rent.Just northeast and slightly closer to Lansing Cottonwood Campground, Rose Lake State Wildlife Research Area provides opportunities to enjoy boating and fishing, hunting, and ATV riding. If you enjoy bird watching, the park provides habitat to pheasant and deer. In the winter, you can enjoy snowmobiling in the park.To the north of Lansing Cottonwood Campground near Middleton, Maple River State Game Area is a protected area and contiguous wetland complex with an inland salt marsh, one of the only such marshes within the state. It follows the Maple River and is spread out over three counties. Canoeing and kayaking the river is possible, and there are several public boat ramps where you can launch. While you're here, you'll want to make time to visit the cities and experience Michigan culture and hospitality. Flint is a short 60 to 70-mile drive, taking about an hour each way, and is home to Crossroads Village and Huckleberry Railroad. The village is made up of historic buildings that have been relocated here from somewhere else, such as barbershops and photography studios. The railroad offers a steam engine train ride with holiday decorations and activities during Christmas, Halloween, and other holidays. There is a farmers market where you can load up on fresh fruit and produce, a museum, arboretum and planetarium, and an urban park with a waterfall (human-made, but still relaxing and enjoyable).Brighton is where you'll find the Oaken Transformations Sculpture & Poetry Walk, a public outdoor art tour showcasing the work of artists and poets who live in or have ties to the state of Michigan. You can expect to see sculptures and poetry scattered throughout the woods, meadows, and wetlands that make up the area. Brighton has an interesting culinary scene, with restaurants representing the best of Mediterranean, Japanese, and Thai cuisines, just to name a few.Regardless of whether you're seeking an adventure in urban or untamed environments, this friendly part of Michigan has something to offer everyone, and Lansing Cottonwood Campground is where your adventure will begin.
What type of RV should I choose?
Start by determining how many people are planning to travel with you. Going on a solo-journey? Choose a camper van or a teardrop trailer. Bringing the whole family along for the ride? Consider a spacious Class A or five-wheel.
You’ll also want to consider amenities. For example, if you’re planning to cook on the road, you’ll want a kitchenette. If your campground doesn’t have public restrooms, you’ll want to search RVs with bathrooms. Check out full descriptions of our models to help you decide here.
Do the RVs have bathrooms?
Yes. Class A’s, Class B’s, and Class C’s and five-Wheels typically have bathrooms. Depending on where you plan on camping, you’ll want to double-check the availability of restrooms if selecting a rig without a bathroom. Nervous about renting an RV with a bathroom? Owners can help show you how to clean the tank or will offer to do it for you for a fee.
How does check-in work?
Once an Owner approves your RV reservation, you can coordinate a time to pick up your rig or have it delivered to your doorstep or campsite. At that point, the owner will do a key exchange with you and walk you through the RV and answer any questions you might have.
