The Great Outdoors

Holland State Park is near where you will be camping at Oak Grove Resort & Campground. It is one of Michigan’s most-visited state parks, and it spans over 140 acres. This park is known for its “sugar sand” and the iconic Big Red lighthouse. It also features two swimming beaches, boat rentals and a boat launch, a playground, connections to non-motorized trails, concessions, and restrooms. Fishing is permitted, and there is a fish cleaning station. Special events for all ages are held throughout the year.The Huron-Manistee National Forests cover nearly a million acres between the shores of Lake Michigan and Lake Huron, and you can explore them when you are staying at one of the RV parks in Holland. They contain a unique dunal ecosystem that includes the Nordhouse Dunes, the Pine National Scenic River, and the Lake Michigan Recreation Area. The Lumberman’s Monument Visitor Center offers an interpretive display, interpretive trails, and ranger programming. The Loda Lake National Wildflower Sanctuary features self-guided and docent-led tours.You can also appreciate the great outdoors with your rental RV at Saugatuck Dunes State Park, which was once part of the Augustinian Order and used as a seminary. The park spans 1,000 acres and includes two and a half miles of shoreline. Freshwater coastal dunes are over 200 feet tall. The 300-acre natural area is home to three endangered plant species. There is a picnic area with tables, grills, and a shelter. Trails include the Beach Trail, the Livingston Trail, the North Trail, and the South Trail. Other recreational opportunities here include hiking, bird watching, metal detecting, cross-country skiing, and nature and wildlife viewing and photography.
