Over half a million acres covering rolling hills, glacial lakes, sand dunes, lakeshores, and mountains comprise this impressive wilderness area, with hundreds of miles of dirt roads and nature trails, along with camping areas too. Hunting, fishing, hiking, biking, birdwatching, boating, and many other activities can be enjoyed at Manistee National Forest.

City Attractions

There are plenty of options for sightseeing when you book a motorhome rental near Mears, especially in places such as Grand Rapids or Muskegon. But smaller towns nearby allow you to entertain yourself without having to drive too far. Pentwater is a lovely town just a short drive north of the RV park, with cozy cafes, trendy restaurants, some vineyards and wineries, and some historical places. The Pentwater Historical Society Museum does a fantastic job illustrating both the town and country's past, with passionate volunteers running tours daily. Housed in an old church, there are artifacts, old photographs, and other historical treasures adorning the walls of the museum.Ludington also has some engaging places to see, like the Sandcastles Children’s Museum. This learning center has a potent combination of learning displays and exhibits, coupled with fun play areas. Lifelike model vehicles, hands-on exhibits, and a music studio are available for children to explore.The Port of Ludington Museum is a brilliant place focusing on the important maritime industry of Ludington and other lakeside towns like it. Captivating galleries displaying old artifacts and equipment used by sailors on the Great Lakes are what you can expect to see when you head to this stunning piece of history by the lake. There are plenty of other towns nearby offering their own attractions, and a whole bunch of lighthouses placed strategically on the shoreline, too.
