Silver Lake Resort and Campground

Silver Lake Resort and Campground is located just outside of Silver Lake State Park in Michigan. It's also just a short drive from the shores of Lake Michigan, which separates the state's upper and lower peninsulas. This campground has a high-end feel with many of the amenities you would expect from a hotel. It is an hour's drive from the city of Grand Rapids.The campsites at Silver Lake Resort and Campground have the option for water, sewer, and electric hookups, with 20/30/50 amp connections. There is WiFi throughout the resort to help you stay connected. The campground has large bathhouses with well-maintained private showers, and there are laundry facilities on-site as well. There is also a camp store where you can pick up any essentials you may need while camping, including snacks, firewood, toiletries, and more. While you're camping at Silver Lake Resort and Campground, you can enjoy a heated swimming pool, a picnic area, a playground for kids, and games including cornhole, volleyball, and gaga ball. There is also a small pond where you can enjoy some catch-and-release fishing.

The Great Outdoors

When you camp in an RV at Silver Lake Resort and Campground in Mears, Michigan, you'll be right next to Silver Lake State Park, which offers a number of fun outdoor activities to try. The park borders Lake Michigan and is also home to the smaller Silver Lake. It is known for its off-roading area; there are sand dunes where you can ride ATVs freely. This is one of the only places to off-road in the Midwest on this kind of terrain. There's also a beach where you can relax or swim, hiking trails weaving through gently rolling terrain, and fishing in Silver Lake. Fishing here is only accessible from the shore, but you can hook bass, walleye, crappie, and more.North of the campground, you'll find the Pentwater River State Game Area, which is the closest place to go hunting. The entire game area is huntable land, and you may spot deer, turkey, and duck there. Hiking and cross-country ski trails run through the area. There is boat access to the Pentwater Lake at the northern edge of the park, and this is the closest access point to Lake Michigan from the campground. The trails at the game area are designed for foot traffic only, and bicycles aren't allowed.If you love biking, be sure to visit the Hart-Montague Bicycle Trail Park, which is just a few miles east of the campground. This is a 22-mile paved trail that is appropriate for biking as well as for snowmobiling and cross-country skiing in the winter. There are scenic overlooks and wildlife viewing points throughout the trail where you can stop and take in the natural beauty of Michigan.

Exploring The Area

Hart is the closest town when renting an RV near Silver Lake Resort and Campground. This is the nearest place to go for groceries, gas, and other essentials. Although it's a small town, Hart has a brewery, a diner, a pizza shop, and other places where you can enjoy a nice meal. Many of the restaurants overlook Hart Lake, which is in the center of town. There is also a local disc golf course on the north side of the lake. The campsites at Silver Lake Resort are also a short drive from the small, lakeside city of Muskegon. The town is known for its beautiful sandy beach on the coast of Lake Michigan. It is also home to World War II-era ships and submarines that you can tour, which is a must-do for history buffs.The city of Grand Rapids is an easy day trip when you book an RV in Oceana County. Grand Rapids is known for its vibrant, artsy culture, as well as its beer scene. Nightlife lovers will enjoy walking through the downtown area and exploring the excellent selection of breweries and restaurants there. For those who enjoy live music, there's no shortage of excellent entertainment venues.If you enjoy shopping, you'll want to check out the incredible Downtown Market, as well as the many independent boutiques in the surrounding area. Grand Rapids is also known for its beautiful public spaces, including Millennium Park and the Frederik Meijer Gardens. Other fun attractions in the area include the John Ball Zoo, Grand Rapids Art Museum, and Grand Rapids Public Museum. Many of the old neighborhoods in Grand Rapids feature notable architecture as well, including a Frank Lloyd Wright house, the Meyer May.
