Flathead Lake is found in the far northwest corner of Montana. The nearest larger town is Kalispell, which is located less than 10 miles to the north. The larger city of Missoula is around 70 miles to the south, while the Canadian Border is only about 80 miles to the north.

This region is populated with scenic views of forested mountain peaks. Several national forests are found nearby, including the Kootenai, Kaniksu, Coeur d'Alene, and Flathead National Forest. Glacier National Park is found locally, as well. Each individual campground will have information available on the specifics that it offers.

Rollins RV Park sits along the eastern shore of the lake, near the town of Rollins. The camp provides full-hookup sites and can accommodate RV's of varying sizes. This park is only open from the middle of June through the end of August due to the lengthy snow season in this area. It can accommodate stays that are a few days to several weeks in length. Motorhome camping here makes it easy to experience all the incredible sites this area has to offer.

Exploring the Area

Rent a camper in Flathead County, and you will find plenty of interesting attractions nearby. Kerr Dam is located in nearby Polson. This scenic site is on the southern end of Flathead Lake. A short trail takes walkers along the dam, offering prime views of it and the lake. An RV rental in this region will give you the chance to experience all sorts of fun locations.

The Miracle of America Museum offers exhibits that showcase what the lives of the pioneers who first settled this land were like. Going to the Sun Road is a scenic drive at Glacier National Park. It crosses the park from west to east and the Continental Divide. Due to extreme weather conditions (and snowdrifts that can be 20 feet or deeper!), the road is usually only accessible by car from June through October. These accessible dates can vary greatly based on current conditions or construction projects that are occurring. Bikes, hikers, and cross-country skiers can access the road throughout the year unless plowing or construction is actively occurring. Incredible mountain vistas are seen throughout the trek. Visitors should be aware that winter weather conditions can occur at any time.
