Encompassing 3,700 acres of surface area, Whitefish Lake has a healthy population of lake trout, often surpassing 20 pounds. There are also sizeable populations of whitefish, for which the lake is named, several species of trout, yellow perch, and northern pike. Although the lake can get crowded during the summer months, anglers can find quiet and solitude at the northern end of the lake, away from the public boat launch and beach. The chilly subalpine lake, fed by snowmelt, rarely rises above 65 degrees Fahenrheight even during the peak summer season. Swimmers and boaters should exercise caution and dress appropriately.
Camping at Whitefish Lake

RV camping at Whitefish Lake State Park may be a good option to consider. It’s open year-round, but in winters, the bathrooms and showers are shut.
