The Great Outdoors

Dive into New Jersey's wilderness with a visit to Wallkill River National Wildlife Refuge in Sussex. Ten miles of trails weave through the refuge; hikers can trek here for days. The Liberty Loop Trail spans 2.5 miles and is perfect for viewing wildlife and taking photos, while Owens Station Crossing has a pollinator garden. Other popular pastimes include fishing, hunting, canoeing, and picnicking. The refuge also has pavilions and boardwalks.Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area spans 70,000 acres of farmland, forests, and mountain ridges, offering plenty of chances for outdoor fun. On foot, you can trek along 100 miles of hiking trails. Cycles can travel on the area's 30 miles of bike paths, and the Old Mine Road scenic drive is an excellent opportunity for a cruise in the Sussex motorhome rental. Along the way, you can view the historic structures of Millbrook Village, houses built in the early 1800s, and other interesting sites.Wawayanda State Park is another excellent day-trip destination near your Tall Timbers campsite. This 30,000-acre park features 20 miles of the Appalachian Trail. The terrain is comprised of white cedar swamp, hardwood forests, and a glacially formed lake, and the park is a great place for wildlife and bird watching. Watch for resident red-shouldered hawks, great blue herons, beavers, and deer while hiking, or try fishing for catfish, sunfish, salmon, and more in Lake Wawayanda and Wawayanda Creek.Take in stunning views of the Skylands region from High Point State Park's monument. Just 10 minutes' drive from Tall Timbers Campground, this state park features a variety of sites and scenes to explore. The High Point Monument is perched on High Point Mountain and towers at over 200 feet tall. From the top of the monument, visitors can see vast mountainous landscapes and the Walkill River Valley. Once you've gotten the lay of the land, you can hike the park's multi-use trail system, go for a swim in Lake Marcia, or spend some time at the Dryden Kuser Natural Area, where you may be able to spot endangered species including Cooper's hawks.

Explore the City

There’s more to enjoy beyond the outdoors when you rent an RV near Sussex. Check out Edison’s home and laboratory, along with many of his classic experiments. Edison's Glenmont Estate features Queen Anne style architecture and houses 29 rooms. Yes. Class A’s, Class B’s, and Class C’s and five-Wheels typically have bathrooms. Depending on where you plan on camping, you’ll want to double-check the availability of restrooms if selecting a rig without a bathroom. Nervous about renting an RV with a bathroom? How does check-in work?

Once an Owner approves your RV reservation, you can coordinate a time to pick up your rig or have it delivered to your doorstep or campsite. At that point, the owner will do a key exchange with you and walk you through the RV and answer any questions you might have.
