This park covers roughly 10,000 acres of hills, forests, and streams in New York's wilderness. There are over 500 miles of trails, making this the perfect place for any avid hiker. The trails vary in difficulty, and many lead to scenic viewpoints complete with watchtowers so you can get a 360-degree view of the park. The park also features Lake Sebago, which is excellent for boating, swimming, and fishing. Anglers can expect to catch perch, catfish, and bass in these waters.

Exploring the City

There are some lovely quaint cities to discover during your vacation with a campervan rental near Middletown. Most campers will want to venture to Poughkeepsie if they're looking for the best city sights. One of the most interesting attractions is Locust Grove Estate, once home to famous inventor Samuel Morse, who helped develop the Morse Code. This 200-acre estate overlooks the Hudson River and features a mansion, gardens, and five miles of carriage roads to explore. The Italian-style mansion was built in the 1850s, and it is open for tours, where visitors will see original fixtures, furniture, and artifacts from Samuel Morse's life.If you're looking or something for the kids to enjoy, consider a visit to the Mid Hudson Children's Museum. This interactive museum is aimed at educating little ones using a variety of exhibits, puzzles, and toys. The exhibits are varied and range from literacy to math to music and much more. There's even a children's outdoor play garden where families can play together and help their kids learn through play.Poughkeepsie has lots of culture on offer as well, and art fans should plan a visit to the Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center. This art museum is owned by the nearby Vassar College and features artwork from around the world. Some of the work on display includes Medieval artwork, Roman sculptures, and Egyptian artifacts. There are many famous artists featured in the museum's permanent collection, including Pablo Picasso, Jackson Pollock, and Georgia O'Keeffe.
