Located just off of Highway Route 30 in Northville, New York, is where you will find the serene Sacandaga Campground. The area is part of the southern portion of the Adirondack Park, which is currently the largest park in the lower 48 United States, offering six million acres of mountains, valleys, rivers, and lakes. The campground is located in a stand of white pine and northern hardwoods on the Sacandaga River. The east and west branches of the river meet at the campground, which sits at an elevation of 925 feet above sea level and is mostly flat.

If you’re looking forward to paddling around in the Sacandaga River a great time to come to this area is usually spring, when the river is used by kayakers and canoeists between the Hamlets of Wells and Northville during periods of high or "white" water. You’ll also find a boat launch at Algonquin Lake, which is another great place to go boating, kayaking, or canoeing.

Whether you plan to pack a tent or rent a camper near Sacandaga Campground, this well-equipped setting has everything you’ll need for a comfortable rest in nature. The park’s amenities include 143 campsites plus a picnic area with tables and fireplaces. Campers have access to hot showers, flush toilets, dump stations, and comfort stations, as well as the boat launch (which is located on the backside of Algonquin Lake). You’ll also be able to take advantage of the campground’s firewood sales, pay telephone and recycling center. Most facilities at Sacandaga Campground are ADA accessible.

If you’re traveling with the whole family, you’ll definitely want to check out the campground’s Junior Naturalist Program. The nature-based program is a great way to encourage young kids to explore the surrounding environment and features games and other fun activities set in an outdoor classroom.
