The south-eastern area of Ohio is home to beautiful Wolf Run State Park, which is made up of rugged hills, lakes and some dramatic landscapes. The scenic woodlands offer visitors ample opportunity for a range of recreational activities such as hiking and boating, while many people choose to search for an RV in Noble County, simply to enjoy the wooded great outdoors.
The park covers 1046 acres and is easily accessible from the nearby towns of Caldwell, Cumberland, and Byesville, as well as further afield. There are plenty of camping adventures to be had at Wolf Run State Park with friends and family, as the park offers a quiet retreat in this remote area of the state.
Due to the large lake in Wolf Run State Park, boating and fishing are both popular activities. Boats that have motors up to ten horsepower are allowed to be used on Wild Run Lake, and there are a launch ramp and tie-ups for easy accessibility. Once on the water, the area is known for large catches of trout, catfish, and bass, to name a few. There is nothing better than spending the day out on the water, enjoying the views from a different perspective when renting an RV in the area.
For those that just want to relax and make use of the warm Ohio summers, there is a lovely 200-foot public swimming beach to enjoy. Sunbath on the beach before cooling down in the refreshing waters. Scuba diving is also permitted in the lake as long as it is not in the swimming area, so you'll able to find out what lies beneath the water's depths, although diving alone is prohibited.
One of the best ways to explore the park when camping at Wolf Run State Park is to take one of the hiking trails through the woodland. The 1.5-mile Lake View trial does as the name suggests, taking you around the lake with lots of picturesque viewpoints to enjoy along the way, providing a nice way to get from the campground to the beach. From the nature center, visitors can take the short nature trail, with a high likelihood of seeing a variety of wildlife. For those that are looking for a longer walk, a 3.5-mile section of the Buckeye Trail passes through the park.
For those that want to make the most of being in the great outdoors and go RV camping at Wolf Run State Park, there are 71 electric sites and 67 non-electric sites, so you'll be spoiled for choice. Shower and laundry facilities are provided for the convenience of campers, and there are also picnic tables and fire rings situated around the state park RV campgrounds that are free to use. For entertainment, there is a basketball hoop and playground for the kids, as well as games and sporting equipment that can be loaned from the office.
There is a walk-in group area for group camping that can be reserved in advance. For those that prefer a more primitive camping experience, there are also 20 primitive camping sites located on the north area of the lake.
Should you be eager for a bit of an adrenaline rush, travel to nearby Wild Zipline Adventure for the thrill of a lifetime. You'll be able to enjoy the wilds from above as you soar over the trees and natural landscapes. The adventure consists of 10 ziplines that are built on a series of observational platforms overlooking many rare and endangered animal species that belong to the Wild. You can choose between day or sunset tours, with a nighttime tour available for the even more daring.
