Oklahoma City, the state's capital, and its large metro area is situated less than 60 miles to the east.

This portion of Oklahoma is quite rural, and most of it is characterized by the flat, agricultural land this region is known for. This canyon, however, offers more trees as they grow on the banks of the creek that cuts through the middle of the recreation area. This site is also called an "Adventure Park" as there are so many fun things to do here. These include hiking and water-based sports, on the creek.
