Formally incorporated in 1905 by the Oregon Legislative Assembly, Turner is an alluring town situated neatly along the Interstate 5 corridor in western Oregon. Turner is lovingly referred to by its residents as the “ Good Neighbor Town,” a constant reminder that when you book an RV in Turner, you will be met with a welcoming atmosphere.

Although Turner was incorporated in 1905, its existence stems back to the westbound settlers who first arrived in the 1870s. Even before that, the Santiam Kalapuya indigenous people called the creekside territory home for centuries before any Europeans set foot in the region.

Turner, like any other town along Interstate 5, is a fabulous place to rent an RV and kickstart your next vacation, with enormous potential to see some of the state’s most magical places. Turner sits on the edges of Salem, Oregon’s capital city, and both Portland and Eugene are well within driving distance to the north and south respectively. Oregon is fully loaded with impossibly beautiful mountains, beaches, rivers, and forests, and is the perfect proving ground for your Turner camper rental to do what it does best.

The Great Outdoors

Choosing where to get acquainted with Oregon’s enchanting natural beauty can be a bit daunting, as there are countless places to consider and not enough time to possibly visit even a fraction of them all. With the interest of saving time, it might be best to concentrate on the parks closest to town, like Silver Falls State Park. The park is known for its glorious waterfalls found throughout, each of which can be found by hiking on peaceful hiking trails that meander through the pristine forest. The Trail of Ten Falls actually brings visitors to each of the main waterfalls in the park, including South Falls and Double Falls, containing massive cascades at an impressive height of nearly 180 feet tall.

Cascadia State Park is a bit farther from town to the southeast, but worth the effort, with day-use sites, picnic areas, miles of hiking trails, and campgrounds to accommodate you and your Turner motorhome rental. Cascadia State Park’s claim to fame is a stunning cave with petroglyphs inscribed into the wall, dating back over 8,000 years. These incredible carvings left behind by ancient indigenous people are one of the best and oldest collections of petroglyphs in the region, giving researchers a better understanding of the culture and history of the first inhabitants of Oregon. Santiam State Forest isn’t far from Cascadia State Park, consisting of nearly 50,000 acres of pristine wilderness on the western slopes of the Cascade Mountains. Guests are able to go fishing, mountain biking, hunting, horseback riding, or hiking at the park, and there are five campgrounds where you can stay with the Turner campervan rental.

One of Oregon’s most treasured attractions is not too far from Turner, and it can be seen from far away. Mount Hood National Forest is home to Mount Hood, a towering stratovolcano that dominates the skyline. This impressive peak is prominent, hovering above the gorgeous evergreen forests and meadows around it. You can swim or fish in one of many rivers, streams, and lakes in the sprawling wilderness, and count yourself among the four and a half million visitors that enter the park each year.

RV Parks

The Salem metro area is teeming with great places to camp out, so you and your Turner RV rental should easily settle in and find a safe and comfortable, temporary home. Silver Spur RV Park is located in historic Silverton, with year-round accommodation, long and short-term stays, and rental cabins on site. There is a pool and hot tub available in the warmer months.

Sweetbrier Train & RV Park is a privately-owned park with peaceful old-growth forests and scenic meadows dotted with wildflowers. They specialize in holding large events, like weddings, reunions, and retreats. There is a large restored railroad in the park, a unique feature not found in many other places.

Albany/Corvallis KOA is south of town near Corvallis and offers a variety of amenities, including a pool, mini-golf course, snack bar, and sports courts.

Turner is a multifaceted vacation destination capable of entertaining you in a variety of ways. Whatever this small town lacks can easily be found in the nearby cities like Salem or Portland, so getting your fix of attractions is a breeze. Turner is most well known for being home to the Enchanted Forest Theme Park, a fantastic wonderland nestled into the woods, full of dreamy landscapes, thrilling rides, and buildings out of a fantasy novel. There are gift shops, restaurants, light shows, kids rides, and live performances at Enchanted Forest, and you will have a great time no matter your age.

In nearby Salem, there are a vast array of places to visit. Salem's Riverfront Carousel is a historic gem, situated on the Willamette River. The carousel features some incredibly detailed design and decorating, an incredibly fun attraction for children to enjoy.

The Hallie Ford Museum of Art is a unique institution home to countless works of art, with a huge emphasis placed on the traditional artwork of the local Native Americans. This thought-provoking collection lets you lose yourself in the passion of artists throughout the world, with art from Asia, Europe, and Africa on display.
