Instagram: @wildwest_vancraftCome see what we mean when we say the west is still wild! This is a 2021 Mercedes Benz Sprinter van with a brand new build that's purpose-built for you to come and enjoy the Sierra's and beyond. This rig was built with spring, summer, and fall travel for two plus your four-legged friend in mind. We've put this build to the test from our home here in the basin to San Onofre and every unbelievable mile down the 395 or PCH in between. Every system in this van was built to be first-time "van-lifer" friendly. 375 watts of solar on the roof plus charging from the vehicle's alternator while you drive means the 280 amp hours of lithium battery ensures that you'll never worry about power consumption or depleted batteries! The Yeti Goal Zero power system is perfect for keeping all of your electronics charged on your trip and has no problem running a blender, kettle, toaster or anything else that will make our van feel like your home. Five gallons of the freshest Tahoe tap water will start the trip with you under the sink and two and a half gallons of water will be ready in the Rinse Kit for showering off or doing dishes out doors. The two burner cooktop is ready for you to cook inside the van but we always recommend breaking out the optional outdoor stove and camp table whenever possible for the full experience.Spring and summer traveling is our bread and butter and we purpose-built this rig with warm conditions in mind. You'll find that the fans swivel every-which way to keep you cool while you're cooking or driving or sleeping and your four legged friend has a fan of their own. The ceiling fan can bring fresh air in or pull air across the bed and living area from three of the windows that have built in black-out shades and bug screens. The bamboo cabinets and wheel well boxes create a ton of storage but the biggest priority of the build was maximizing open, usable space so that you're able to have any kind of adventure you want! What's includedCheck out our Instagram page @wildwest_vancraft to see what life at the lake with the van looks like and better images of the van itself! The van comes equipped with fresh linens and fresh water for drinking and outdoor showers. The three awning windows have built in bug screens and black out shades and we will provide you with insulated black out shades for the front windows of the van as well. For an additional charge we offer a wide variety of additional equipment for your consideration including camp chairs, camp table, cookware, stand up paddle boards, outdoor games, etc.We love to work with local outfitters to arrange additional equipment rental for your stay. Please let us know if you're interested in e bikes, mountain bikes, stand up paddle boards, surfboards, etc. and we'll work with you to make your time with the van as epic as you can imagine!RecommendationsNo one would blame you for spending your entire stay exploring the beauty of the Lake Tahoe basin but if you're looking for the complete California experience, it's hard to find a better place to start and end.We recommend heading south down the 395 highway and exploring June Lake and Mammoth Lakes on your way to the towns of Big Pine, Lone Pine, Bishop and Independence where the west feels as wild as it ever has. From there we recommend hitting the coast as far south as San Diego before turning north and taking your time winding up the Pacific Coast highway through Big Sur. Eventually you'll hit Santa Cruz before heading back up into the Sierra's to complete what we consider the most epic loop in North America. Other things to noteWhile the van is thoroughly insulated and thoughtfully ventilated, we ask you to be very considerate of your pet and please do not leave them unattended in the van.No smoking weed in or near the van and no smoking cigarettes while you are renting the van period. No festivals or tailgates, please.Don't forget to let us know if you're local to Tahoe and wanting to check out van life in a custom built rig - we've got the locals discount for you.Weekly and monthly discounts are available!

Before moving to South Lake Tahoe, my wife and our two dogs worked for a school district in Ventura, CA. Every summer we'd move out of the house we were renting and into one of my van builds and travel for two to three months around the western United States. Our trips always started and ended with extended camping around the Lake Tahoe basin. When we had the opportunity to work for the school district here in Lake Tahoe, we bought the first house we saw that we could afford and now we live here full time - working for the school district and building vans!
Now that we're settled in, "van life" looks a little different than it used to. The majority of our trips are long weekends and the vans that we build reflect that. We love getting away to Santa Cruz for a quick couple days of surfing or back down to Ventura, CA for longer surf trips. With everything Tahoe has to offer, it's hard to get away unless there's good surf in the forecast.
Don't hesitate to reach out if you're interested in visiting! We're happy to share some of our favorite spots and give you a gentle nudge in the right direction if you're looking to spend more time off-grid away from it all.
