The Great Outdoors

If you appreciate spending time outdoors, Benton is a great place to rent an RV. Waterfall chasers can check out Benton Falls in Cherokee National Forest. The scenic 65-foot falls flow over a series of rocks and into a small pool at the base. Reach the cascades after a short and easy 1.5-mile hike. Because of its length and relatively level terrain, the hike to the falls is great for people of all ages and fitness levels, and you can even bring your dogs — just be sure to keep them on a leash.

RV Parks

Book a luxury RV rental in Benton, and one place you could stay is Chilhowee Campground in Cherokee National Forest within the Chilhowee Recreation Area. The campground has many campsites for both tents and RVs. The RV sites only have electric hookups, but there is a dump station within the facility. Guests to the campground can utilize McKamy Lake, a seven-acre lake built during the 1940s by the Civilian Conservation Corps. Campers also have access to picnic sites, a bathhouse, and a beach area for swimming. Each site at the Chilhowee Campground has a picnic table, grill, and lantern post.

Exploring the City

Before Tennessee was settled by the English, Cherokee Indians made their homes in and around the Smoky Mountains. As such, the Tennessee area is replete with artifacts, structures, and other things dating back to the time of the Cherokees. One such structure is Fort Marr Blockhouse in Delano. Built in the early 19th century, the Fort Marr Blockhouse was used to detain Cherokee Indians before they were forced to move from the area via the Trail of Tears. Just a short walk from the fort, visitors to the area can check out an original Native American fish weir which remains intact in the Hiwassee River.
