Discover Smyrna rentals for memorable road trips

Founded as a railway stop between Nashville and Chattanooga, Smyrna exudes a quiet charm for those willing to slow down and enjoy this small city. In fact, U.S. News and World Report picked it as one of the best places in the U.S. to retire. However, if you’re looking for a bit more excitement when you rent an RV, Smyrna is just 40 minutes from the bright lights of Nashville.

Today the town is most famous for being the home of one of the Nissan assembly plant for their Leaf electric car. A large percentage of the city works at the plant and they pride themselves on producing the eco-friendly vehicle.

While Smyrna doesn’t have its own public transportation system per se, it does have a bus connection with Nashville via the 96 route. It takes a little over an hour and 15 minutes to get from Smyrna to downtown Nashville.

RV Parks Near Smyrna

When you book an RV in Smyrna , you’ll have the chance to see Tennessee as it is outside the big cities like Memphis , Nashville, and Chattanooga. Fortunately, you shouldn’t have too much trouble finding a place to park your Smyrna travel trailer rental. One of the closest options is the Nashville I-24 Campground, which is just a few miles outside downtown Smyrna. Sites have water and electrical hookups and there’s a dump station, coin-op laundry, hot showers, basketball court, and convenience store. Poole Knobs Campground, about 15 minutes away, is another option and has sites with electrical hookups, drinking water, a dump station, and flush toilets. It’s also located on the shores of Percy Priest Lake, so there are plenty of opportunities for swimming and fishing. Another place to stay with the RV rental near Smyrna is Music City Campground, five miles north on Highway 41. Sites there have full hookups. If you’re in need of any extra supplies there are Walmart Supercenters just a couple miles out on both ends of Smyrna. There’s also a truck stop on I-24, on the city’s western edge.

Exploring the City of Smyrna

While your motorhome rental in Smyrna allows you to easily travel back and forth to larger neighboring cities, it’s worth spending some time getting to know this little town while you’re here. If you’re looking for a satisfying meal, you can’t go wrong with almost any of the restaurant and eateries in town. From traditional American dining to Italian and Japanese cuisines, the Smyrna dining scene has a variety of options. Antique shoppers and bargain hunters will enjoy a visit to Remember When Antiques, Gifts, and Collectibles along with Buckle and Hide Leather. Both have some interesting products that were made right here in Smyrna, and make fantastic souvenirs to remember your trip by. If you’re a history buff or just love beautiful architecture, you’ll want to make time for a visit to the Sam Davis Home, a well-preserved antebellum plantation surrounded by picturesque cotton fields. Don’t let the attractive landscapes fool you though, this house belonged to a scout for the Confederate Army and slaves worked the surrounding fields. The staff doesn’t sugar-coat some of more unsavory moments from the plantation’s past. As a fan of history, you also might enjoy the Stones River National Battlefield and National Cemetery in nearby Murfreesboro.

Getting Outside near Smyrna

A Smyrna camper rental trip should definitely involve plenty of time in nature as one of the best things about renting one is that you have the freedom to go (and camp) anywhere you like. However, it should be said that the town of Smyrna has no shortage of great places to get outdoors with Lee Victory Recreation Park, Gregory Mill Park, Sharp Springs Park, and Rock Springs Park all within the city limits. Any of them would be a great place for a picnic, stroll, or just lounging around people watching. If you’re looking for some easy hiking trails nearby, Stones River Greenway in Murfreesboro has 12 miles of paved trails alongside the Stone River and Lytle Creek. If you’re a disc golf player you’ll want to check out Cane Ridge Park a few miles away in Antioch, as it has a fairly new course. For a more rugged hiking experience, there’s Long Hunter State Park, 10 miles away in Hermitage, which has 20 miles of track circling Percy Priest Lake. However, no trip to Tennessee would be complete without visiting Great Smoky Mountains National Park . It’s the most visited park in the national park system, with over nine million tourists flocking to its famed peaks every year. There’s really no bad place to go in the park, but if you can only go there for one day with your Smyrna rental motorhome, you really should see the Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail. The 5.5-mile scenic drive gives an eyeful of old growth forest and bubbling streams.

This camper was perfection from start to finish. From delivery and setup, to return, everything you could possibly need was there waiting on you. And while the camper itself was wonderful, what makes a great rental is the hosts! They were quick to respond and communicated throughout the rental, even checking in midway to see how things were going. I highly recommend renting from them, you will not be disappointed. Thank you for a great trip!
