The Trinity River National Wildlife Refuge is located nearby and offers a number of different options for outdoor activities. Several different hiking trails weave through the wildlife refuge, including the Knobby Knees Trail and the Palmer Bayou Boardwalk. Both of these trailheads start just outside of the town of Liberty, making them very accessible. This wildlife refuge is also a popular destination for hunting. Some of the game found in the park include wild hogs, waterfowl, and deer. Since hunting space is limited, you'll need to enter a hunting lottery in order to participate. You can also opt to go fishing on Champion Lake within the refuge. The lake offers boat access, but there is also a fishing pier. Bass, crappie, and catfish are commonly caught in the refuge.South of Highway 90 RV Resort, you'll find several lakes that offer opportunities for fishing and boating. Lost Lake, Lake Anahuac, and Lake Charlotte are all conveniently located close to the campground. You can also go fishing and boating in nearby Trinity Bay.
