Getting Outdoors
Scout Lake is relatively small, at just a few acres, but it does offer some good recreational opportunities. Fishing is popular as the lake is stocked with trout, and since motorized boats are not permitted, it is always quiet and tranquil. Paddleboats, canoes, and kayaks are allowed on the lake, so you can fish from either the bank or by boat. A swimming beach has been prepared at Scout Lake, but just remember that no lifeguards are on duty here.
Camping at Scout Lake
There is a campground at Scout Lake, but it is a primitive campground with no electric or water hookups. You’ll all the basics you need, such as drinking water and vault toilets, plus each site has a picnic table and a fire ring. It’s a lovely quiet spot in the middle of the national forest that could be perfect for a day or two on a motorhome camping vacation.
Exploring the Area
The area is home to numerous annual events, and if you are camping near to Heber City, there are two great festivals. In August, every year, the Utah Yoga and Wellness Festival is held at the River’s Edge Campground, covering everything from yoga to biking and stand up paddleboarding. During the event, workshops are held so you can try something different, plus there are plenty of vendors on site selling anything to do with wellness. In the glorious mountain air, this should be a brilliant event.

Our trip through Utah’s Big 5 was incredible, and we are so thankful to Sphere Rentals for their part in the journey. After our original booking cancelled last-minute, Steve was able to get us on the road in an even nicer rig than we’d started with. It was like having a friend in the rental business! The RV had everything we needed for cooking, playing, etc. And the queen bed in the back was a dream -- that mattress and those sheets were top-notch!
