Operated as a partnership between the US Army Corps of Engineers and the State of North Carolina, B. Everett Jordan Lake is a refreshing getaway spot for nice RV camping holidays and outdoor recreation. This lake park which sits on the shore of the 73 sq. mile Jordan Lake offers exciting opportunities that will leave you yearning for more.
You could begin your adventure on any of the numerous trails in the park that range from easy to moderately difficult to hike. This activity will offer you the chance to explore beautiful sceneries along with diverse landscapes. Alternatively, you can sit by the lake or launch your boat from any of the ramps and courtesy docks to enjoy paddling on the water. Angling for crappie, catfish, bass and other fish species is yet another fun activity at this COE park. Other popular activities at B. Everett Jordan Lake include bird and wildlife viewing, as well as hunting. Day use areas are present within the park for more recreational pursuits such as picnicking. Transportation

Driving

B. Everett Jordan Lake COE park can be easily accessed from Raleigh, North Carolina by driving 30 miles south on US Highway 1, or from Sanford,15 miles north on the same highway. US Highway 64 grants access to the areas on both sides of the lake. The park’s areas are easy to navigate in cars, RVs, and trailers and visitors will find RV rentals nearby at Jordan Lake Recreation Area and William B. Umstead State Park.

Parking

Ample parking areas are available for campers and visitors at and around B. Everett. Jordan Lake. Parking pads and lots are available at the surrounding campgrounds and day-use areas. Parking is only allowed in designated parking spaces. Overnight parking is available.

Reservations camping

Crosswinds Campground

At Crosswinds Campground, RV campers can enjoy the use of 182 pet-friendly campsites that accommodate RVs, trailers, and tents. Electric and water hookups are available at 134 campsites in the campground. Besides, you’ll find amenities such as grill, picnic table, and lantern holder, as well as trash containers, restrooms, and a dump station in the campground.
A boat ramp is provided at the campground and swimming opportunities are open to campers.
RV length limit at this campground is 146 feet. Reservations are accepted.

Parker’s Creek Campground

Parker’s Creek Campground offers 250 pet-friendly campsites, all available by reservations. 150 campsites in the campground are equipped with electric hookups for RVs. The campground cannot accommodate RVs and trailers longer than 116 feet.

Campground amenities include dump station, restrooms, hot showers, public telephone, and dump station. A boat ramp, as well as picnic shelters equipped with tables, grill, fireplace and electricity are also on hand.

Poplar Point Campground

There are 579 campsites available at Poplar Point Campground for vacationers to enjoy tent and RV camping. Electric and water hookups are provided at 363 campsites, but all the sites have trash containers, restrooms, showers, and a dump station. The majority of the sites in the campground are available by reservation, but some can be gotten on a first-come, first-served basis.
Two boat ramps, a swimming beach, and potable water are also on hand. ADA accessible campsites are provided in the campground too.
RV length limit at the campground is 136 feet.

Vista Point Campground

Vista Point Campground is a pet-friendly campground with 50 campsites that support RVs and trailers only. The sites are all equipped with electric and water hookups and can accommodate rigs up to 40 feet in length. ADA accessible campsites, as well as group camps, are available.
Campground amenities include showers, a dump station, restrooms, potable water, and picnic shelters equipped with grills, fireplace, and electricity.
Campsite reservations are accepted.

In-Season

Hiking

There are plenty of hiking trails available to visitors at B. Everett Jordan Lake for exploration and enjoyment. These trails, varying in difficulty from easy to moderate, are open to campers and visitors of all ages who are prepared to explore the park on foot and enjoy the beauty the park has to offer. The trails vary from half a mile to 5.4 miles in length. The longest trail (New Hope Trail) is the most challenging and features several steep hills that test even the best hikers on their day. Trail surfaces vary from sand, gravel, stairs, to natural surfaces. You should pack your best hiking boots on your visit to this US Army COE park.

Fishing

If you’re an angling enthusiast, you’ll find plenty of opportunities to pursue your interests at B. Everett Jordan Lake. To enhance the fishing experience, artificial structures that are attractive to fish and invite them to concentrate near shore have been constructed. These features are submerged near shore. The naturally occurring fish populations in the lake are supplemented by stocking efforts to ensure anglers always have something to catch.
An ADA accessible fishing pier is provided around the lake too. Species available to catch in the lake include crappie, bass, panfish, and catfish. You’ll require a state fishing license and have to abide by the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission rules when angling here.

Bird Viewing

The bald eagle soars over the waters of Jordan Lake and is always spotted by bird lovers and watchers at B. Everett Jordan Lake COE park. This lake supports the largest population of bald eagles in the eastern US, meaning you can’t miss them as they soar over the lake searching for fish or any other available prey. The best time to watch these birds is early in the morning, or late in the evening. Visit the park in spring to see them as they migrate northward.

Off-Season

Boating

Several boat-launching ramps provide easy access to Jordan Lake for campers who are on vacation at this COE park, or those simply visiting. These boat ramps and courtesy docks are located in the recreation areas near the park and are either open all day or during peak hours for campers’ use. As you set out to enjoy boating on the lake, you are required to be cautious of underwater hazards such as logs, stumps, and rocks.
Besides the boating opportunities at B. Everett Jordan Lake, you can also test your sailing skills on the water, particularly at Vista Point.

Hunting

B. Everett Jordan Lake has enhanced wildlife areas such as open fields and forests, all of which are managed so that wildlife can have the best conditions for survival at this COE park. On your visit to this park, you’ll get to see wildlife species such as osprey and hawks, deer, heron, squirrels, and beavers, and enjoy hunting for some of these game species in the designated hunting areas. Hunting licenses are required at the park for would-be hunters.

Day Use Areas

There are two recreation areas managed by the US Army Corps of Engineers at B. Everett Jordan Lake - B. Everett Jordan Dam Day use area and Poe's Ridge Boat Ramp. Your visit to any of the areas will provide you the chance to enjoy boating, picnicking, hiking, and the use of multiple playgrounds. A Corps’ Visitor Assistance is also available for visitors who would like the chance to speak with a ranger, enjoy an outdoor meal, or explore the overlook.
