Introduction

Nestled within tall riverside cottonwoods and sitting on the shore of a meandering river, Inkaneep Provincial Park is a nice place to enjoy privacy on RV vacations. Located 6 km (4 miles) north of Oliver on Highway 97, Okanagan, British Columbia, this small provincial park is perfect for rustic campers and RV vacationers who like the experience of a more natural setting.

Inkaneep Provincial Park features 7 RV campsites that are available on first-come first-served basis only. Only basic amenities are available at the campground. You’ll find fire rings, picnic tables, and pit toilets at the park.

Recreational opportunities available at Inkaneep Provincial Park include bird viewing, fishing for sockeye salmon, hiking, flora observation, cycling, canoeing and kayaking, nature observation, and pet walking. Various bird species are seen in the park and RV campers can take their binoculars along to enhance their viewing experience.

The riparian area of the park and the river have been identified by the First Nations people as crucial to the sustainability of the Okanagan River salmon run.

Inkaneep Provincial Park was established in 1956.

Transportation

Driving

Located 6 km (4 miles) north of Oliver on Highway 97, Inkaneep Provincial Park is a simple drive-in park off Tucelnuit Drive. Hence, the park is easily accessible by RVs, trailers, and other motorized vehicles. There is a local road within the park which grants easy access to the campsites. There are no driving restrictions within the park.

Parking

There are no designated parking areas in Inkaneep Provincial Park, however, there is room for RV campers to park their rigs at their respective campsites while on vacation at the park. Overnight parking is available at Inkaneep Provincial Park.

Public Transportation

There are no direct transportation services to Inkaneep Provincial Park.

First-come first-served

Inkaneep Campground

Inkaneep Campground in Inkaneep Provincial Park features seven pet-friendly campsites that are available for RVs and tents. There are no RV hookup options available in the campground. The campground is suitable for small RVs and tents and RV length limit at the campground is 25 ft (8 m). However, if you have a larger RV, you can contact the park ahead to find out if there is space available.

All the campsites in the campground are shaded and feature fire rings and picnic tables. A hand pump and pit toilets are also available.

In-Season

Bird Viewing

Although Inkaneep Provincial has no dedicated viewing platform, there are wonderful opportunities to spot birds in the park. This is made so by the healthy riparian vegetation in the park. The thickets in the park are popular spots to see black-headed grosbeak, American redstart, northern oriole, warbling vireo, yellow warbler, Lewis’s woodpecker, yellow breasted chat, and many more bird species.

Fishing

Inkaneep Provincial Park is a popular destination for lovers of angling. RV campers who enjoy fishing visit the park for the wonderful opportunities available to catch sockeye salmon. So, visitors never leave behind their fishing gear and tackle when visiting Inkaneep Provincial Park. To fish in the park, however, an appropriate fishing license is required.

Hiking

There are short trails in Inkaneep Provincial Park from the campground to the dike on the Okanagan River. These trails allow RV campers enjoy short walks along the shore of the river within scenic old growth cottonwood trees that offers unique opportunities to see the birds in the park. Other opportunities to enjoy hiking are available outside the park.

Flora

Inkaneep Provincial Park is a conservation area that protects various vegetation in the region. Some of the vegetation in the park include red listed antelope brush, red three-awn grass, and old growth cottonwood. These florae decorate the park and add to its beauty.

Cycling

RV campers can enjoy cycling at Inkaneep Provincial Park, however riding of bicycles is restricted to the roads in the park, and bicycle helmets are mandatory. You can enjoy riding on the backroads in the park to the wineries that are nearby, or even ride the International Hike and Bike Trail that runs along the far side of the river.

Canoeing

Opportunities to enjoy canoeing and kayaking are available at Inkaneep Provincial Park. So, do not miss out on the opportunity to enjoy paddling on the river at the park.
