Little Moose Mountain Wilderness is a predominantly spruce-fir forest track with scenic rivers, lakes, and ponds in its territory. It is steep and rugged, located on the slopes of Little Moose Mountain and Manbury Mountain, except for some areas that are wetland flats. Although not a high-volume public destination, the wilderness has challenging hiking trails that lead to the summit of Little Moose Mountain, where you'll enjoy restricted but breathtaking views of the surrounding area. Siamese Ponds Wilderness is a semi-cultivated outdoor recreational area that is a mixture of mountains, forests, and water. There are more than a dozen trails that are marked and easy to follow, plus additional trails that are unmarked and more difficult to follow. The unmarked trails are often used for hunting, which is allowed; either of the trail types can be used for wildlife observation, and there is a wide variety of wildlife such as moose, bear, and deer, to name a few. It's a popular area for climbers and can be used for skiing and snowshoeing in the winter. Ferris Lake Wild Forest is characterized by its stands of old-growth spruce trees, which dominate the valley floor and extend up the slopes of Big and Little Alderbed Mountains, but the forest is so much more than that. The many ponds, rivers, and streams are a magnet for local anglers, and there are miles upon miles of trails for hiking and mountain biking in the summer and snowmobiling later in the year. The forest has numerous primitive campsites where you can truly get back to basics and a system of roads providing motor vehicle access.
