Getting Outdoors
Lay Lake provides the perfect place to cruise or paddle around, especially when you go motorhome camping during the warmer months. Either chose to explore the varied coastline in a smaller boat like a canoe or kayak or alternatively, there are five islands that can easily be reached by boat. Access to the water is easy as there are plenty of public boat ramps that can be used by those that come to go camping at Lay Lake.
Camping at Lay Lake
Relax and enjoy the chilled atmosphere at Peach Queen Campground and RV Park, just a short distance away from Lay Lake. Campers can make use of the clean restrooms, general store, laundry, and swimming pool. All sites are level pull-thru sites with full hookup and 30, 50 amp service. Pets are more than welcome on the campground, and there is a dedicated fenced area that allows dogs to be off the leash for a while.
Exploring the Area
Many people may be interested in visiting the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame, located in the city of Birmingham. The museum covers a huge 33,000 square feet across three floors, so there is plenty to see. Overall there are around 6000 items for sports memorabilia such as trophies, kit, sporting equipment, dioramas, and lots more, making it a fascinating place to visit for sports fans who camp in an RV near Birmingham.
