The Great Outdoors

One of the best reasons to book an RV in Sylacauga is its proximity to Talladega National Forest. This forest covers a massive 300,000 acres of dense woodland and is the ideal vacation destination for horseback riders, with the Shoal Creek Trail System offering multiple trails over 14 miles in length. There are lots of hiking trails too, with roughly seven trails ranging from two miles to over 100 miles in length, each trail offering different sights, difficulties, and experiences. Other favorite activities include fishing in the creeks and biking.

There are a few campgrounds nearby to consider when you rent an RV in Sylacauga, such as Desoto Caverns Park near Childersburg. This campground features 16 gravel sites, complete with full hookups that have 30 and 50 amp electric. Pull-through campsites are available, although big rigs are not allowed. Amenities are limited to restrooms, showers, and laundry services. There isn't much here in terms of on-site recreation, but the nearby caverns and park offer plenty to do.

Exploring the City

Booking an RV rental in Sylacauga is ideal because it's a popular tourist spot, meaning there are plenty of restaurants, stores, and other amenities in the city. One of the best places to visit in Sylacauga is Kymulga Grist Mill. This 140-year-old mill and bridge are a big part of the county's history, and people flock from across Alabama to visit here. Visitors are allowed to tour the mill and see how the mill was built to stand for nearly 150 years, and how the cornmeal was made in the 1850s. There's also the Rainwater Museum, a beautifully preserved manor house from the 1890s, complete with some original fixtures and furniture.
