Sitting at the tripoint of Arkansas, Missouri, and Oklahoma, Beaver Lake is considered to be one of Arkansas’ most northwestern lakes. The city of Rogers lies on the lake’s western banks and is the gateway to this fantastic man-made reservoir. Easily accessed from the stretch of Interstate Route 49 that runs between Fayetteville and Joplin, MO, book a camper near Beaver Lake when you’re keen to see one of the state’s most beautiful landscapes.

Beaver Lake was constructed on the White River in the mid-20th century by the US Army Corps of Engineers. The lake's purpose was to aid flood control, generate hydroelectric power, and hold a large water supply. While it continues to provide more than five counties with drinking water, nowadays, the lake is better known as a recreational hotspot. Welcoming visitors with its limestone cliffs and turquoise waters, this lake should be top of the itinerary for anyone with an RV rental in Benton County.

Getting Outdoors

One of the reason’s Beaver Lake is frequented by so many visitors is due to its spring-fed, crystal-clear waters. In fact, it is one of the only lakes in the state where scuba diving is predominant. Seasoned scuba diving professionals can explore the lake unsupervised as long as they have an appropriate license. Should you be new to the sport, consider signing up for a beginner class with one of the many diving schools in Eureka Springs. As well as the normal sunken debris found at the bottom of the lake, the remains of the luxury 19th century Monte Ne Resort can be explored underwater too. Though much of the buildings have been eroded, there are still remnants of grand bridges and even the resort’s opulent amphitheater, a truly magnificent sight.

When you’d rather stay above water level, fishing and boating are also great ways to pass the time while camping at Beaver Lake. Numerous boat launch ramps scattered along the lake’s extensive shoreline, along with naturally sloping banks, make accessing these vast waters a breeze. There are also five fully serviced marinas available if you need to pick up any boat rentals, fishing tackle, or licenses for the weekend. While motorized watercraft are permitted on the lake, boaters should keep an eye out for no-wake zones and scuba divers, who are often marked with a floating buoy.

Fishermen and women RV camping at Beaver Lake will have no problem finding a secluded spot of shoreline to fish from. Line fishing is the most popular sport here. However, fly fishers can often be seen along the lake’s shallower stretches of water as well. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a beginner or an experienced professional, all anglers will have a great chance at catching one of the many fish restocked here annually. Species include everything from largemouth bass and white bass to catfish and crappie.

Camping at Beaver Lake

Finding a place to park up your Rogers camper rental near Beaver Lake will not be a problem. There are hundreds of campsites scattered along the lake’s shoreline, catering to almost every type of camper and budget.

Set up camp with your rental RV at the Monte Ne RV Park, and enjoy close proximity to the city convenience of Rogers as well as to the lake. This large RV park equips all of its campsites with 50, 30, or 20 amp electric, along with water and sewage hookups. Modern campers can also enjoy a stable WiFi connection, a handy laundry room, and modern washroom facilities. Don’t worry if you’re traveling with little ones. There is a children’s playground to keep them entertained from dawn till dusk.

Should you be one who is after a little more seclusion during your Beaver Lake camping trip, make a beeline for one of the many Army Corps of Engineers campsites located at the northern end of the lake. Lost Bridge South Campground is one of such campsites and offers campers a selection of picturesque, lakeside pitches equipped with partial hookups. With a boat ramp and swimming beach all onsite, visitors can enjoy prime access to Beaver Lake and its refreshing waters.

Exploring the Area

When you’re motorhome camping at Beaver Lake, you won’t need to venture far to find some alternative sightseeing attractions. One of the region’s most popular allures is the Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge. Not to be confused with a zoo, this 460-acre refuge acts as a safe place for neglected and mistreated big cats. While many of these are tigers, the refuge is also home to leopards, bobcats, cougars, and the odd grizzly bear. Walking tours around the grounds are available daily, as well as intriguing one-off fundraising events that are well worth supporting.

Quigley’s Castle is perhaps one of the region’s most unique attractions and worth a quick visit if you’re passing by. Designed and built by Elise Quigley in the early 20th century, this distinctive house is decorated with her personal collection of stones and a myriad of tropical plants. The house has been open to the public since the 1950s and can be visited on an hour-long tour from March through to November.

Another notable building worth visiting is the Thorncrown Chapel, designed and constructed by E.Fay Jones in 1980. Nestled into the woodlands, the chapel has frequently been voted as one of the most beautiful contemporary chapels in the United States. Although the chapel is hired out regularly for weddings and other events, it is generally available to be visited by the general public.
