Crowley’s Ridge State Park is situated in northern Arkansas and covers over 291 acres. It was originally the home of Benjamin Crowley, a pioneer. The Civilian Conservation Corps took over the land in the 1930s and converted it into a park designed to honor Crowley’s legacy. Besides creating trails, the Civilian Conservation Corps also built unique log cabins, most of which can still be seen today.
This state park is located next to Crowley’s Ridge Parkway, which is a scenic road that travels through the heart of Arkansas. This makes the park very accessible for RV rentals in Greene County. It’s also near cities such as Paragould and Brookland. While the area can be somewhat humid during the summer, it can go to below freezing temperatures during the winter.

There are plenty of outdoor activities to do while visiting Crowley’s Ridge State Park. One to consider is fishing on Walcott Lake. This 31-acre lake was made by the Arkansas National Guard and is stocked with catfish and bass. Boats are allowed on the water, and there are rentals available. While fishing, you might catch a glimpse of herons or kingfishers flying overhead.
Hiking is yet another activity to try out while here. The park features five miles of trails which will take visitors through marshlands and by natural springs. You’ll find quite a few trails to trek down, including the Dancing Rabbit Trail, which is one of the longest in the park, and the Walcott Lake Trail that will take you by the lake.
Guests can also swim in Walcott Lake. There is a three-mile beach area that is designated for swimmers to freely swim around in. During the summer, there are lifeguards on duty. However, during the rest of the year, you will have to swim at your own risk. If you prefer not to swim but want to enjoy some time on the beach, there are a few volleyball courts visitors can use.

The park is also known for its Crow’s Nest platform which provides a birds-eye view over the surrounding area.
Head over to Lake City with your RV rental to visit the St. Francis Sunken Lands. This area features wetlands which span over 27,000 acres and is a popular spot for duck hunting and fishing. The land was created after a violent earthquake in the early 1800s, which caused a nearby river to flood the grounds.
A little more than an hour away from the state park in Memphis, Tennessee is Beale Street. Situated in the downtown section of this iconic city, the street runs about two miles long and is lined with many restaurants and shops. It also provides views of the Mississippi River and is popular for its nightlife and music festivals.
While in Memphis, consider stopping by Graceland. This historic estate was once home to singer and actor Elvis Presley and has been converted into a museum that tells of his life. Guests can step inside the mansion to view exhibits which include guitars and clothing that Elvis owned. There’s also a small car museum which contains some of Elvis’ favorite vehicles, like a Pink Cadillac and Stutz Blackhawk. Visitors can take a guided tour through the home or choose to walk through it themselves. Tickets are required in order to enter.
This state park is close to a few different restaurants which range from Mexican eateries to steakhouses. However, there are not many gas stations located nearby except for one. Because of this, you’ll need to be careful to ensure you have enough fuel in your camper’s tank before heading out to explore more of the great outdoors.
