As the state of Arkansas' oldest lake, Nimrod Lake is a very popular destination for campers. Build by the US Army Corps of Engineers in 1942 by damming the Fourche LaFave River, the lake covers an area of 3,550 acres and is bordered by the Ouachita National Forest on the south shore. Originally, the lake was created for flood control and water resource purposes. Today, the beautiful surroundings, range of things to do, and the balance of history and family fun, means that people come year after year to rent an RV in Perry County.
