Aromas was originally known as Sand Cut, named from the Southern Pacific Railroad tunnel that was constructed nearby in the 1870s. The community changed its name to Aromas in the early 1900s. Set in a rural valley with lush farmland, it still has the nostalgia of old California while continuing to be a thriving center for cattle ranches and agricultural businesses.

Aromas is a great place to experience small-town hospitality with scenic attractions close at hand. The town hosts a range of cultural events, including concerts, dances and art festivals, mostly located near the town center at the Aromas Community Grange. You’ll find some charming shops to browse, as well as a variety of restaurants serving up ingredients from local crops.
