Discover Montebello

Where You Want To Go

When where you want to go is outside, there are many surrounding parks and forests to explore. About 30 miles southeast of Montebello lies the Chino Hills State Park. This unique refuge is a popular place for outdoor enthusiasts to enjoy hiking, biking, and horseback riding. The entirety of the park is over 14,000 acres and provides the solitude many seek outside of the cities.

If you decide to spend a night or more out here, come prepared as there are no hookups, though, showers and restrooms are provided. Some other restrictions are in play, such as a maximum RV length of 28 feet and all parking spaces are back-in-only. However, these areas are nicely paved and show off a spectacular view.

The campground at Chino Hills State Park has been called a “best kept secret”, but if secrets aren’t really your thing, a visit to the Angeles National Forest may be just for you. This urban national forest is constantly changing and is host to all sorts of recreational opportunities.

The Angeles National Forest is home to Mt. San Antonio, which is also referred to as Mount Baldy. It is the highest point in Los Angeles County, with snow-capped peaks often visible to those in the Los Angeles Basin. Hiking trails are from base to summit, and all sides of the mountain are used. Climbing, camping, and skiing are all quite popular here.

Labor Day is a festive time on Mt. Baldy, with a sponsored “Run To The Top” eight-mile course that ends at the summit. This is no easy feat, as the summit’s point is at 10,064 feet, meaning a 4,000-foot elevation gain for those who tackle the run!

Nestled comfortably back at 6,000 feet, Manker Campground is one of three that accepts RVs and campers up to 16 feet. Manker Campground has 21 campsites conveniently located near the Visitor Center in the Mt. Baldy Village. Piped water and flush toilets are available when the camp is open, though no hookups are advertised.

Another well-liked outdoor oasis is Topanga State Park. About 30 miles northwest of Montebello, Topanga State Park features a 14,000-acre wilderness area with hiking trails that wind in and out of nearby mountains and canyons. Grasslands, thick forests, and spectacular ocean views await!

After a day out at the state park, wrap up your evening down along the coast. Dockweiler RV Park is the only campground in Los Angeles County that is located on the beach. Take in the scenic coastal views from Malibu, CA to Catalina Island. This site offers complete hookups, hot showers, a laundromat, and pump station. The ocean is only a few steps from your RV and you’ll be glad you booked a luxury RV rental in Montebello! Embrace the ocean breeze with walks in the sand, enjoy swimming, and try surf fishing!

Continue your coastal quests and stay at Santa Barbara Sunrise RV Park. This is the only RV park in the city of Santa Barbara. Small and family-owned, this park offers comfortable and convenient RV sites with full hookups for electric, water, sewer, cable, and free WiFi.

Make your way back inland and stay at East Shore RV Park or Anaheim RV Park. Both are less than one hour from the center of Montebello. East Shore RV Park is right along the bank of Puddingstone Lake. This lake is stocked several times a year with bass and trout, as it is a popular fishing spot. The park features swimming, boating, water skiing, sail boating, golfing, hiking, mountain biking, and multiple family picnic and playground areas.

The convenient location of Anaheim RV Park offers first-class facilities close to all area highlights of greater Anaheim, such as Disneyland, Universal Studios, and Knott’s Berry Farm. Besides location, this park has a few other things going for it to enhance your stay. You can expect a laundry facility, clubhouse, swimming pool, RV cafe, hot water spa, restrooms and showers, free WiFi and full hookups!
